Everything an EDC should be

Boker loves to experiment with their "Boker Plus" series, and some of the results are downright bizarre (e.g. the Sanyougo). But with the Urban Trapper, Boker has developed ONE OF THE BEST EDC KNIVES I've ever used. Unbelievably sharp out of the box, and with VG10 it holds its edge. It is so light you barely notice it in your pocket, and yet the blade and handle are practically indestructible. The frame lock is exactly tense enough, and although there is no thumb stud, the flipper is one of the easiest I've ever used. Without exaggeration, this is everything an EDC knife should be. Carry it, use it, and you will be amazed.

Boker Plus Urban Trapper

I do not usually jump on a new knife when it comes out. This is the first knife that I have ever bought that literally went right from the box upon opening it into my pocket after shaving hair off of my arm as well as my 1946 Gillette Safety Razor with a new blade. It has been in my pocket ever since, and will be one of my daily EDCs, replacing a CRKT Onion Ripple. - I carry three to four blades for various work/reasons every day. I still like the Ripple too, however the urban trapper trumped it. I didn't expect that. A very pleasant surprise to be sure.

Excellent design!

I've been looking for a slim, clip point, one-hand trapper for a long time and this is it. It is very well designed. The blade flipper is brilliant! It solves the problem of having a slim handle and one-hand operation. The pocket clip is quite strong, yet unobtrusive. I carry it both on the street and in the field. Great job, BZ!

Light and sharp

Very nice and light knife. With a deep carry clip and Ti. handles I forget it's there. If you are not a shiny knife guy this may be you knife and after a long search KNIFE CENTER was the only company I found with this Darker model! My only complaint is the very small flipper takes a little getting use to, but it's no big deal.

This is a excellent light duty carry knife. It is extremely thin & light weight & deep pocket carry or in shirt pocket. Now have three of them. Guessing wife & granddaughter will be confiscating two of them (lol.).

Boker nailed it with this one! Great knife!

This is my second boker urban trapper. I also have the polished finish. I love the design, fit and finish, and materials. This version is far superior to the original. My polished versions flipper is smaller than this one making it impossible to flip open without flicking my wrist. On this one, the jimping on the flipper is more aggressive making the deployment easy and fun. I have many mid to higher end production knives and this one fits in perfectly at a much lower price point. Great with shorts due to the crazy light weight and slim size. Add a deep carry clip... and this may be the best knife for the $ at this price point. I never thought a boker plus would win me over but this one is on a new level. Well done boker and Brad zinker!

great knife

this is knife is EXTREMELY light, but tough, with a titanium frame and VG-10 blade. Very thin, locks tight with no wobble, flips open amazingly well for having such a subtle "flipper." Finish looks like it is going to last and a very subtle, deep in the pocket clip. Seems toatlly excellent.

Maybe the best minimalist knife yet

Long, light, lean, decently sharp, good flipper for being so svelte. Ultra minimalist in most every way, clip is a bit wide. Pivot and butt screw hold the whole thing together, aside from a tiny stop pin. Neat. Blade seems huge for the whole package. Nice packaging and accessories. Hinge box w magnet. Included basic elbow 6/8 torx wrench. Compared to my BM530 in a comparable size class, the 530 just got punted as my go-to "slacks knife". Overall: $80, Chinese, Ti, VG-10, bearings, Framelock, deep pocket carry...A+ knife.

Boker hit another homerun

I keep a knife in my pocket all day every day. Weight and pocket space are important factors that I consider when picking the knife that will be carried. This knife is pretty much perfect IMO. The 3.5" blade is long and thin enough to do light kitchen duty, slice cardboard, and open letters with ease. I love the VG10 blade, titanium handle, bearing washer, super deep carry pocker clip, and flipper action. The great flipper action applies more to this KC exclusive than the normal polished version of this knife that I also own. Both knives appear to be the same except the KC version has a black coated blade which IMO is the reason why it is a better flipper. The coating gives the flipper better traction as opposed to the polished one. The coating also helps with holding the detente ball inside the hole and gives it extra potential energy. If you want a fancy looking knife, the polished version is definitely more eye catching. For around $80 I can't think of any knife that can match this for quality and portability. It may be made in China, but lots of Chinese knife companies have been stepping up their game lately so I wouldn't consider that a negative anymore. This knife has kicked the BM940BK out of my pocket. That should say quite a bit as the 940 is very EDC friendly and one of my favorites. Thanks for reading this review. Hope it was helpful.

Great lightweight carry knife

It's hard to get an EDC with a 3.5" blade to be as concealable and comfortable as this one. You almost forget you have it. The titanium handle is very light but still has plenty of size and texture for a good grip, not to mention adding a nice touch of style. The VG10 blade steel is one of my favorites. This knife is engineered to be very light and nailed it...so don't confuse it with the dozens of super heavy duty folders out there. The one change I would make is to the pocket clip.....it's too wide. The clip really doesn't want to let go of your pocket. If the outside the pocket part of the clip were narrowed down to about 1/2 to 1/3 it's current width it would be about perfect.

Stunning but delicate

Looks absolutely stunning. Blade color and shape is beautiful, but overall it is too delicate for everyday tasks but ideal for showing off at dinner party. Flipper is just too small and liner lock not very secure yet sticky. Deep carry clip is very nice but a bit tight. I am keeping it just so I can look at it every now and then.

Good Materials, Bad Service

My initial impressions were great. The blade came very well sharpened and the weight of the knife was impressive. Only a week of very light use the blade failed to close and open completely. After a day or two of fiddling with it I decided I would open the knife. This is where I discovered that I did not have the proper means by which to reassemble the tiny ball bearings. I contacted Boker and they outright refused to repair it. I admit I should have contacted Boker before I dissembled the knife but the utter refusal to come up with some kind of solution left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Again, I admit I should have been more cautious but Boker's refusal to help does not sit well with me.

Cheap flimsy knife

I don't really know if the one I received is representative or if it was somehow just a dud. First, it is really flimsy. When it is opened, it has a lot of play in the blade. I believe I could have easily snapped it like a chopstick. It also did not fit will in the handle and rubbed up against the sides when opening and closing making a terrible sound. This is a small cheap flimsy terribly made knife. Unusable really. There are so many good options for knives of this similar shape and size. The Al Mar Eagle is a bit bigger but amazing in terms of quality for instance.
