GREAT OUTDOOR KNIFE !

Handle design is comfortable, both forward and reverse carry. Tooled cayman leather sheath is beautiful. Fit and finish is exquisite. Makes great EDC fixed blade.

Looks like an economical copy of a Murray Carter

It appears like a 185 Original model from Carter Cutlery but not $400. I like it. Even has the mosaic pins. The handle isn't tear dropped enough to be an exact copy and the grind lines go all the way to the spine which I prefer. The only big difference is that the First choil on the blade in Carter's have a plunged grind line so you wont slip and cut your finger. I like this one better because the heel takes less time to get sharp also this knife maximizes cutting edge for it's size. If you are worried about the index finger just round the heel a bit on a stone. One of Carter's in his style would have about 3/8 less usable blade. Jimping at the tip is nice too. Not sure who came to this design first but I think it's the Ferrari of fixed blade knives. Don't forget to thin the secondary bevel! Buy Japanese water stones or if you are really bad at sharpening and don't care to learn buy a Wicked Edge sharpening system. I prefer water stones just because it's more fun.

A Very Fine Knife

The knife will be used for occasional carry. I did work a little bit on the finish of the wood handle as there were faint lines of the sanding belt that was probably used to finish it. I took some fine wet dry sand paper with some Watco teak oil and worked the sanding marks out to a fine finish. Now with the delightful pins used to fix the wood scales and the refined finish, the knife looks like a much more expensive iteration. The finish on the blade was excellent to start with and the overall knife design is quite clean and simple. I do like looks of it. A great value including the excellent leather sheath.

Excellent fit and finish

I wear the knife on my belt and use it for general tasks around our mountain cabin. The knife was a little smaller than I expected, but the fit and finish and overall impression it created were excellent. My one issue is this: the handle seems a little small in my average sized hands. I tried choking up using the blade choil (sp?) but then it felt like my forefinger was at risk of sliding onto the cuting edge of the blade. Overall I like the knife but it wouldn't my first choice for an EDC/user in a woodlot setting.
