Good Heat Treatment
I bought this knife about a year ago… I have so many knives so I only carry it about twice a month. About 3 months ago I bought a fixed angle sharpener and sharpened this knife. This knife now has to be in my top 3 sharpest knives. It took a tremendous edge. The combination of a great heat treatment and great geometry make this knife cut like a laser beam. This knife has a full flat grind and is very tall because of the Nessmuk shape, making this knife a cutting machine. The pocket clip is a good old standard clip, for a larger knife the blade sits well in the pocket. If I had to complain about something, I’d wish there was better access to the lock bar but it’s still serviceable. Someone mentioned a light detent, I have not had that experience. The flipper tab works great and you can spidey flick it without any issues. I’m just writing this review so I can give credit to the heat treatment. I’ve been carrying it a lot more recently so i can give it the stamp of approval. Enjoy your new knife.
I purchased three of these almost a year ago. I make fixed blade knives and have made a few Nesmuk style knives. These folders are really ergonomically friendly and have a very useful blade shape. The scales are some sort of g10/frn style scale. Not beautiful or high end but fairly grippy. I didnt send the blade out for testing but I have sharpened them and they behave as D2 normally does. I think that it is a decent D2. The pivot washers came smooth enough but I think they benefitted from the polishing I gave them and the blade surface where the washers mate up. A negative criticism that I have is that the detent is not very well tuned. It is difficult to build up enough pressure to get a crisp blade deployment from the flipper. I modified my detent with a small dremel tool and it definately helped. Last, but not least, the price. It is a bargain at the $50 price point. I guess thats why I own three. Youll like this knife!
I purchased this from Knife Center. The good about this knife is that its using premium quality materials. The handles are real Carbon Fiber. Ergonomics are excellent. The blade came sharp out of the box, very good working edge. much sharper then most production knives. Not hair shaving sharp, but just a little stropping brought the edge to life. The bad. Very weak detent. Extraordinarily easy to fail deployment. You really need to put a lot of power into the light switch method on that flipper tab to get the blade to fully extend. Pivot is free spinning and can not be adjusted. Excessive thread lock was used on all fasteners, extremely difficult to take the scales off. You will need to use plenty of heat and pliers holding the standoffs to get the scales hardware lose. You will be able with much effort to get the screws out of the handles but you will not be able to remove the scales as the free spinning pivot also has excessive thread lock on it and you will not be able to break it free regardless of how much heat you use. Bottom line materials excellent, workmanship / production quality very poor. Oddly this is like a $10 gas station knife except its using premium materials. I am considering cutting the pivot in half so I can salvage the blade and scales.
