My Old Stand-by!
I carried my 120 in Viet Nam in '65 and '66 due to a SNAFU of my own creation!
When I went overseas in '65 I first spent several months in Okinawa. (August 'till November.) I was a Radio Telegraph Operator whose standard firearm was a .45 Cal. pistol. When my unit received orders to head south to Vietnam I was advised by a senior NCO that when we got there I would be able to request a rifle rather than a pistol, due to the high high tactical conditions. I did so, and when I was given my rifle. I asked for my bayonet and was advised that as a Communications Battalion, they had no bayonets and that because I did not have a pistol, I couldn't have a Ka--Bar!
So I wrote to my parents to go to the local sporting goods store and buy and ship to me a Ka-Bar. I received my package about a month later containing my first Buck 120 General...! I carried that Knife through my Vietnam Service, and brought it home with me when I returned in late '66!
I had a flood in my home in 2002, and the people whom I'd hired to clean up the place apparently thought that since the box was soaked, the knife was damaged beyond recovery (that was BS, of coarse!) When I discovered my General was missing, I immediatly replaced it, and throughout the years since I have bought each of the new iterations and have purchased all of the 100 Pro series.
I love my many Buck Knives, and expect I will be buying many of the new models of 2026!
