Best Carry Knife

I have carried this knife for years; I have probably used it 40,000 times. It has been a great knife! The only complaint that I have is that after four years of carrying the clip broke off but was repaired for only shipping.

Bought the best EDC.

I wanted another knife for backup of my sp101. I've already own one of these for over a yr now as an EDC.Which in this roll it has worked flawlessly. I too then compared it with the Manix2 line from Spyderco. The Manix2 has some really cheap feeling/looking handle material. It does not inspire thoughts of it's longevity at all.Buck uses g10 a proven near indestructible handle material. Plus the lock stuck some and the blade's hole and edges were on the rough side. Not meld and smooth like the Buck is made.Buck again won in the blade material with a far superior s30v blade compared to BD1.The blade centering and lock are spot on with no movement whatsoever on either.The ergonomic on the Buck make it just feel better tho in my hand and inspire more confidence in it. Lastly the Buck is cheaper in cost making the Manix2 Spydy not anywhere as mighty in comparison.Don't get me wrong Spyderco makes very well made knives. For my money Buck has made a better made blade and I'd recommend it to anyone needing a first rate EDC.

A great all purpose knife

The 347 vantage pro is a very nice knife. The blade is thin on the cutting edge which helps it cut through things effortlessly. Very easy to sharpen, it come razor sharp in the box, blade was straight in the handle, nice liners and G10 handles. If I had any complaints it would only be its a little heavy, and when I say that it's only because I'm trying to find something negative, which to me has none.

Work knife to the core. The scales are very nice. But I still switched them out with my old buck 345 and I like it more ( ergos) the blade is GREAT. Lock up strong. My favorite work knife and price for edc with good steel

Best EDC

I've carried this knife as my EDC for about 7 years. I've rotated a couple of others through but this one always makes its way back to my #1 spot. It's sharp (the s30v steel does take a bit of practice but once you get it, it's unbeatable), reliable and fits the hand really well throughout many uses and grips (I have an L/XL hand). About 4 years ago one of the bolts for the belt clipped broke (it's possible I over torqued it after I took it apart to clean) and it's still held together perfectly. It's strong, stable, sharp and extremely versatile. Definitely recommend. Thinking about getting another in case it ever gets discontinued..

High Value Knife

I carry this knife daily and have no complaints. I prefer the bronze bushings as they handle dirt and grime better than ball bearings while still being plenty smooth. The flipper is very good, though not the best in the industry. The slim handles and deep carry pocket clip make it an excellent every day carry knife without breaking the bank. Highly recommend!!!

Shaving sharp and it feels good in hand. I like the shape of the Vantage blades a lot, and of course the better steel of the Pro version. I like the deep pocket clip and especially like that the clip attaches to the very end. I hate having to look at screw holes, or worse, big flat spot with holes that I'm not using. Some dislike how hard these Vantage knives are to open, and I agree. The spring is simply too strong. To fix this I did two things; one is bend the spring so it puts substantially less tension on the blade. Two is I sanded the little detent tit down maybe half way, which also reduces spring tension. I added a little radius to the detent hole because breaking it free was too stiff as well. It wasn't bad, I just like them very weak. I also sanded the washers and treated them with tungsten disulfide, then 0wt syn motor oil, then adjusted the screw to perfection. Now I'm super happy with the greatly reduced detent strength and opening friction. With the reduced spring tension the blade now sits closer to center when closed, despite the pivot screw being looser. All mine sit centered without the spring leaning on it, so it's the spring and plastic washers that cause it. The weaker spring and shorter tit helps a lot there, and now I'm working on finding metal washers for it. I have four Vantage knives and have done this to all of them and recommend the mod(s) to everyone. An option to bending the spring is grinding the metal thinner where the oem bend is.

Great EDC

I use this knife as an EDC. Knife is razor sharp right out of the box. Flicker is smooth and opens with a satisfying click. Handle is good but tends to collect dirt. Wish it came in a wood handle. Would definitely recommend it.

Use my knife daily for all kinds of small things. (cutting my fruit, marking the wood i use during my renovation.) The handle has a nice feel to it and it locks tightly. Only thing i would like is for the knife to be a little sharper. Sharpness out of the box is okay but could be sharper.

Not Quite Up to the Price Point

Not a bad knife overall and it pretty much lived up to the other reviews regarding both the pros and cons. In general, would I recommend this knife? Not for $94.00. For $45.00 yes. Biggest disappointment is the stiff opening action followed by the course feel of the handle material and then the slight difficulty in releasing the blade lock. Best traits are the blade material and the blade size / shape. For nearly $100 bucks, I wish I had purchased the Pro version of the 112 Slim model.

Had this knife for 10 years, forgot to review it because it doesn’t see any pocket time :( Pros: fairly good ergonomic handle, great materials, good lockup, deep carry pocket clip is fantastic Cons: G-10 slabs are slick, flipper doesn’t have much purchase and isn’t the easiest to use, I’ve bought butter knives that came sharper (and S30V is a pain in the a** to sharpen from a dull edge)

Disappointing

I like the blade shape and steal just fine. The fit and finish left something to be desired. Blade lock up was loose and the blade didn't center when closed. In fact it was hitting the side pretty good. I had to take apart the knife and adjust and tighten everything until it was acceptable. Something I shouldn't of had to do. Now the knife seems ok.

The Buck Strops Here

The F&F on mine are quite good. Lock-up is about 1/3. The grind was average, at best. The sides did not match (they were close) and were irregular along the course of the edge.(both). After reading these reviews, I took mine apart., And what is the deal about an $80 knife being bradded together? I pulled the blade, polished the washers and the blade, cleaned them, and Blue Lubed them. I reassembled the knife. (Not terribly easy, but better than omega springs.The screw holes in the scales and liners did not match up perfectly. I had to keep them all loose while starting them.) The action was no better after I worked on it. It will not flip open without a LOT of help from my wrist. Buck could sure take a lesson in thumb holes from Spyderco. Or maybe the thumb hole is not so bad, and it all related to the action. The knife feels very good in hand.I have $40 Bestechs that are way better than this.(Except for the steel. They are D2.) For the same amount of money, I got a Kershaw in M390. That is a great one. If Buck would have screwed this together and paid attention to the grind, it would be a 5 star knife. Instead, Buck screwed this. I carry it from time to time. From a cutting and ergo standpoint, it is a very good knife.

Just another "almost great knife"

Things are getting worse - My VP has four (4) screws protruding into the blade cavity/belly and it does flip for sh*t. Just more disappointments. I had even more problems with a Momentum............... Cassette bearings or larger bronze washers would help center the blade.

Excellent blade, poor finish, other issues ...

The S30V blade is excellent and came sharp. Rest of the knife, not so much. The G-10 scales had milling shavings in the grooves. The blade was not centered. Tightening the pivot did not correct the problem. Also, after you take of the scales off, the knife is held together with pins, not Torx screws. Therefore, you cannot take the knife apart. I did manage to swap out one side of the washer with thicker one to correct the blade misalignment. Flipper action is sluggish, requiring wrist action to open it. Thumb hole is small but you can still use it to open the knife one handed. G-10 scales do not line up flush with metal liners and overall finish is mediocre. Very disappointed with this supposedly halo product from Buck with high aspirations using premium S30V steel. The liner lock is alarmingly skinny but that is a problem I've seen on many supposedly stout built Buck knives. Buck needs to step up their game, stop resting on their laurels of past glory and support of the made in the USA homers. USA made Manix 2 with same steel blade blows this knife out of the water with superior fit and finish, better locking mechanism, and better overall design for few dollars more.
