Not my first Buck 110 folding hunter.

I have and own several BUCK 110 folding hunter knives I have a older 1974-1980 with macasser ebony wood handle and 440C steel it’s officially retired now due to being sharpened down. Also have a 2012 which I bought new back then and is my primary hunting knife every year since buying it new. Then I have a 2018 Alaskan guide series 110 with S30V steel that I have put up it’s not a everyday carry knife. Then I have my new 2019 110 with the new macasser ebony wood handle that they went back to at the beginning of 2019 just bought it last week and it’s going to be my everyday carry from now on except hunting season then I’ll carry my 2012 110 but no matter what I do their will always be a Buck 110 on my belt everyday. I have used my 110 for countless camping chores and opening boxes or cutting them up to burn in a fire ring. When sharpening the 110 I really recommend getting a hard and soft Arkansas sharpening stone and sharpen it that way it will get it really scary sharp.

Buck 110 Folding Hunter

I've carried a Buck 110 for 35 years, tried several other brands before, liked the feel, and durability of this knife the best. I Remember When!

Another reviewer on here said that this was a integral piece of the American Culture. I couldn't have said it better. I recall vividly when I bought my first on (since gave it away to my Son-in-Law) in the Summer of 1975. Bought it at a Hardware Store in our little town in West Virginia for a whopping $25.00! A great knife for a good price very happy with my Buck 110 Anniversary special. Knife is sturdy and well build. Does not quite fit my hand as well as my Buck 112 but that is my only complaint.The knife out of box is razor sharp with no play in the blade and has perfect centre alignment . The blade locks with a firm snap and just feels solid. Couldn't be more pleased to own such an iconic knife. Very speedy delivery from knifecenter at very reasonable shipping rates.

My 110 folding hunter

I have several Buck 110 different years a 1975 that’s pretty sharpened down with the original sheath and 440C steel. And a 2012 that I bought new that year as a replacement for the 1975 110 and it’s strictly been used for hunting since buying it new. A 2018 cabelias Alaskan guide series with rosewood handle and S30V steel blade. Plus a 2019 with the new macasser ebony wood handle that is my everyday carry all the time on my belt and I use it as a work knife and when camping all the time. The Buck 110 is my favorite knife to every day carry and use all the time I never leave my camper without it all the time it’s on my belt constantly everyday. I sharpen my 110 using Arkansas hard and soft sharpening stones and a few antique ones also that are over 100 years old. I also use a wustof sharpening steel for minor touch up and a ceramic sharpening stone as well for minor touch up I very seldom have to use the corse side of the stone I can generally use the fine side because I never let it get really dull I actually touch it up about every three weeks or so. The buck 110 are easy to sharpen as long as you can keep them touch up and don’t let them get really dull because if you let it get really dull then you will definitely be spending about two hours sharpening it to get a really good edge back on it. Also keep the leather sheath done with leather conditioner so it stays in really good shape all the time.

My New Favorite Knife

I have owned and used everything from $5 POS made in china knives to hand made $300+ folding knives. If I had started with a Buck 110 I don't think I would own so many knives. It is just the perfect balance between cost, function and fit/finish. I don't feel like i have to baby it or have and fear of it failing. 20 minutes on my stones and its shaving sharp. A great buy that will last you a lifetime.

THE STANDARD FOR FOLDING KNIVES

I have had my Buck 110 for over 25 years and it has never let me down. The lock is still tight and there is no wobble in the blade. What have I done to insure this? Absolutely nothing. This knife is the standard by which all folding knives should be judged. It has many imitators but no product even comes close. I fish, camp, canoe and hike with this knife and I literally would not leave home witout it.

As an admitted knife-nut who has dropped some serious $$ on blades, I am not the biggest fan of Buck as their modern products just aren't quite up to my standards. However, since I was a kid I always loved my dad's really old Buck 110 and I wanted to pick one up just as a part of my collection. Given that it is a modern Buck and the price is pretty low I didn't have high expectations. To be perfectly honest, I was very very very pleasantly surprised upon receiving my 110. Sure, the blade isn't a super steel but the 420 is treated well and takes a razor edge and holds it long enough. For the price I am honestly shocked at how nice the fit and finish of the 110 is. The pins stick out a bit but the scales are PERFECTLY fitted to the brass and the overall tolerances are really really nice. The lockup is solid as a rock and the action is quite smooth. The blade is even dead centered. Oh, also, the sheath is really nicely made as well. If you're lookin for a durable classic pocket knife built like a tank for a reasonable price then look no further. Buck is still showing the 110 model all the respect it deserves. I put weight as a "con" because a lot of people don't like heavy knives. The weight doesn't bother me but let it be known this is a HEAVY pocket knife. Carried on the belt it shouldn't be an issue but it can get pretty heavy in your pocket.

My first 110

Purchased my 110 in 2011 and love this knife. It is everything I read about. The feel and action of this folder is classic buck. The quality is like custom made, much heavier than a modern knife but the weight feels good in hand. Opens and closes with that famous snap. Unbelievably sharp and very easy to keep it that way. Just keep it oiled and clean and this knife will last you a lifetime.

My first Buck Knife

My first Buck knife was a 2 dot 112 version ebony, still own this knife today and love it. Also have more recent versions of the 112, they are beautiful. But never owned a 110 until 2011. Beautifully made not perfect but has the feel and snap that these knives are famous for. When you go to purchase one of these knives it is best to look at several of them before making your choice and pick the best action, tightness and blade grind and you will not be disappointed. These knives will last a lifetime for sure.

An alltime classic

For a 40+ year old design, the Buck 110 is in quite good shape. The blade is strong and very sharp, the lock is firm and safe. Most of the weight, and there's a lot of it, is in the handle, which is quite uncommon in the days of fiber and titanium. But it feels very good once you get used to it. Originally, I bought it just to have a Buck 110, an all time classic knife. But in the meanwhile I find myself using it more and more for everyday tasks in the house and in the garden.

Love that knife

This is a really well made and strong solid knife. The quality is beyond question and the blade is durable and hard. A really nice combination with a nearly 3/16 inch spine. This is not a pocket knife but a really durable folding hunting knife. I purchased the original Buck 110 40 years ago and still have it. It is worn rounded on the edges and the mechanism is still tight. It takes years to break them in to your hand and feel. The newer rounded model 110 is every bit as good and maybe better.

I’ve been a deer and bear hunter for over 40 years. I’ve taken numerous dear also lost count on Bears maybe 18 to 22 Bears there’s not much more to be said. It’s a good knife. I also use a very old Kershaw model 1050 discontinued many years ago. Kershaw used to be made in Japan. Great Steel. I bought my first buck knife back in 1974 still have it still use it. But one thing everybody’s missing about this knife along with my Kershaw 1050 is the BRASS. I love the BRASS once it’s all shined up , it’s so beautiful. That’s what makes the 110 besides its blade. Again along with the Kershaw 1050 the brass also the blade I use them both the Kershaw is better when it comes to skinning due to the fact of the tip it’s not as pointy. When gutting Skinning animals both knives are fantastic. Maybe a little touching up on sharpening but not a lot highly recommend the 110. That’s all for now.

What can I say? A classic amongst the folders. You can feel the quality when you take it out of the box. The problem with it, it's to nice to abuse. When I edc it, most of the time i take my Crkt M16 also along. If the cutting job is to dirty or tricky for the tip. I can make myself do it with the 110. I have no doubt it will perform flawless.

So folks here it is, the first warranty repair 110 back from Buck, and yes, its really nice, you cannot tell it was reworked not at all, it is repaired, the open and close stiffness and it actually works really well and is very nicely finsihed, you still need to clean them up and lube them a bit, they will break in very nicely, and the materials are still top rate. So if you dont mind adding some postage when you get a bad one, its worth it if you like the style, super rugged design and materials. Buck really does stand behind the products and wants us to be happy with the knives as well as them. Dealing direct with Buck has been a pleasure and very easy, just as it always is with KCI. I recently bought both a 110 and a 112 Ranger. The comments below apply to both knives, as they are almost identical except for size. A number of people mentioned the sharpness of the knife out of the box. Mine were not particularly sharp, but a couple minutes on a fine India stone followed by a brief trip across a soft Arkansas fixed that. Good thing about 420 stainless: it's easy to get a really good edge on it. Bad thing: it doesn't hold it nearly as well as some better steels like the 440 series. Fit and finish were very good. The blades locked up solidly with no wobble. The 112 action felt a little bit gritty. A little oil and a little working in (as you should do with any new knife) smoothed it out pretty well. All in all, a great value for the money. I would have paid more for better steel, but I guess they are trying to keep the price point down. At 40 bucks for a well-made classic, I don't see how you can go wrong.

The Buck 110 may be a very outdated design but it is easy to see how much it has influenced the knife industry. My buck 110 has been a trusty company for me over the last year and even though is do carry more modern pocket knives i always keep the 110 in my back pocket and it's the knife that has seen the most use out of my entire collection. The handle fills the hand nicely and i can confidently put the knife to work on many different choirs. While 420hc isn't the most desirable steel on the market right now Buck's heat treat is as advertised and it competes very well with many of the other middle of the road steels on the market in terms of edge retention. The big plus though is how sharp i can get this knife. Just a short session on my sharp maker and this knife is extremely sharp and is ready to cut almost anything. If you want a knife with classic good looks and that only gets better with age, this is the knife to get.

I fist saw a 110 folder in 1971 in Greece. A young man from California had one. I Loved it! I had to have it! Upon returning to Canada I ordered one and have had it ever since. For those of you who complain about one hand opening , you are wrong. That guy that I met in Greece, customized his 110, & I did the same. You simply shave down the wood handle untill you can touch the blade with your thumb & once you ease the blade out a hair you flick your wrist & out comes the blade just like a stilletto. 2019 BUCK 110 folding hunter with leather sheath

I own several 110 folding hunters a 1974-1980,2012, 2018 as a spare. And a 2019 that’s actually my everyday carry knife on my belt constantly everyday and I use it for everything from opening packages to cutting boxes to start a camp fire. Even have used it to cut rope to tie down a table and steps at the end of camping season because they sit outside all winter. And I also carry my 110 when going in the woods to go squirrel hunting, deer hunting and turkey hunting. Along with a Buck 105 pathfinder with a 5” blade. Plus several other Buck knives that go in the hunting bag and stay their all the time that way I can just grab the bag and go.

Classic Work Horse

The Buck 110 is a classic folder that though it is an old design with some short comings, it still holds its ground. The blade is a versatile design, though the tip can be weak for heavy use it is excellent for those who need to make precise or delicate cuts. The knife is heavy and large for pocket carry but not impossible. The knife is best paired with a "Kwik" thumb stud and a clip slip pocket sheath. Add a quickdraw sheath and it becomes very convenient as long as you dont mind a belt sheath. The 420hc steel is a budget steel that manages to punch above its weight class thanks to Bucks "BOS Heat Treat" process. The steel will dull somewhat quickly but can be sharpened easily as well. A simple leather strop is often all that is needed to restore the edge. The brass bolsters and wood inlays are very comfortable and the brass will tarnish quickly. Simple light metal cleaners such as "Brasso" will easily restore the brass to a fine luster. An excellent all around knife and a high value!!!

I have my grandfathers 110, works amazing

I got a Buck 110 when my grandfather passed, he left a box of stuff for me and a Buck 110 was in it, I remember him using this knife all the time around the house and his shop and he would take it fishing with him. I cleaned it up and this is an amazing knife, it still holds a great edge and the lockup is as solid as they come, I have a lot of pocket knives but when I go camping or where I may need a little heavier use I more often than not grab the 110. When you open the knife it just has a really nice solid feel to it when it opens and it feels good in the hand and it sharpens up really easily and will hold for a while, you can't flick it open like a lot of modern knives but it has a solid feel to it that modern knives rarely replicate.

CLASSIC BEAUTY

I got this knife as a 21st birthday present from my brother,waaaay back in 1974. Mine is a 3 pin model, I don't know for sure when they changed to 4, the edges on mine are more squared off, still comfortable to hold. It doesn't say on the blade but if I remember they used to use 440 steel as opposed to the 420 they are using today, also, the handle scales are rosewood, not sure what they're using now. Over the years this knife has dressed out numerous deer and many small game animals. Being a construction worker I had it with me for years on job sites,I never babied it just a drop of oil and a touch up on the blade as needed, even the original battle worn leather sheath is still functional. Nearly 40 years later this set-up is still solid and very useable. Now, with all the super steels, lock types and one hand opening options I don't carry it as much. It mostly sits in my knife case along with some other classic beauties.I believe every knife collection should include one of these fine folders.

All American classic!

It doesn't have the latest steel or features, but c'mon its an all American classic. I have used multiple blades through the years, all with different steels and features but none can match this one. The steel holds an reasonable edge, is corrosion resistant and is really easy to sharpen which I find its greatest plus. The thing with steels like ZDP189, SGPS, VG10 or S30V is that they all have high edge retention, but are also more difficult to sharpen and which is to often dismissed to quickly as trivial especially in the field. Other things in my opinion which are great are: - No tactical look. - Hollow grind; which attributes to ease of cutting. - Sheath; I don't like a knife in my pockets mostly because I already have different stuff in them. - Handle feel and material. - And of course the price! On the downside is: - The weight; The knife weights more than a ton and is extremely handle heavy. - Lack of thumb stud or hole for one handed opening. Overall it's a great knife especially if you take the price and overall quality in account.

Getting my hands on a Buck 110 has been on my list for a while. It is my first Buck and I was not disappointed when it arrived. It is a solid folder with a nice build and a solid weight to it. A little difficult to get the lock to release to fold the knife back up. May be just this particular knife not all Buck 110's. Doesn't appear to be a design problem. Still among the best.

I got my first one in 1968 and still have it. It's still serviceable except the blade looks more like a stiletto after being sharpened many, many times - 1968 stainless steel isn't as durable as modern stuff. But, the blade is still tight in the handles, and the lock still strong. This knife helped dress out many, many deer, including cutting the ribs away from the sternum. How many modern knives would stand up to that? If "strength" was among the "pro" categories, I'd check it twice. Really, the Buck 110 is the knife that started it all, and unless you can't live without one-handed operation, still as good as any. Get one for your son like my dad did 41years ago.

Use it for general utility use around house - good blade; maintains edge although takes a bit more time to sharpen. Unlike others, I prefer the hefty feel of the knife, but may be an issue if you intend to EDC.

I have a Buck 110 from my dad that he got the year I was born (1952) and saw this 50th anniversary knife on the Buck TV special. I have 2 sons so I bought this one to go with the other so each can have one. They are the right size and weight, hold an edge well last forever, and the older one looks as good as new.

Life time owner

I've had this knife for over 15 years. Still sharp as new. Little on the heavy side that's the way I like it. Kind of on the heavy side to open but that's ok with me and blade locks in hard no worries about it unlocking. Only bad thing I have to say about it is when I got it for Christmas it came with a leather sheath and the leather is bad for the brass parts.

This is my first Buck Knife purchase. I wanted a folding knife for use around the home and yard and wanted one manufactured in the U. S. This knife fit all the requirements. The only thing I find I dislike is that it is hard to fold the blade back into the knife handle. I'm sure over time this problem will resolve itself as the knife is new and stiff. Other than that this knife is very well made.

What QC program?

Another 110 back to Buck to get unBucked and hopefully work. Very very stiff opening, wont close all the way or snap closed the last bit of travel. How can they ship these this way, clearly they bank on only so many coming back, luck of the draw. They will fix it and it will be a great knife, maybe ill see it in about 6 weeks or so. Plan on that when you buy Buck folders, high percentage are flawed and require warranty repairs or replacement right out of the box. sad but true, now we know how they keep the cost down. Mass production and flying out of the shipping docks at its best. Stay sharp. Acid Glad i have several good ole Benchmade 710's that are perfect from day one.

Wondeeful knife

At least a couple of reviews have complained that the 110 is stiff to open, doesn't snap closed, and doesn't close all the way. These are people who know nothing about knives. All three of these things are marks of quality. Stiffness, and a child could open any 110, means everything is tight, as it should be. Not snapping closed, and not closing all the way, is how top knife companies protect the edge on a good knife. There is no folding knife you should allow to snap closed. All that does is flatten the edge. As for not closing all the way, the 110 does close all the way, but stops before the edge is resting on steel. It's a wonderful feature that preserves the razor edge on this knife, and it dos come with a razor edge. This knife is not only a classic, it's still the best folding knife on the market for those who actually know knives, and who actually use them for something other than show.

Buck 50th Anniversary knives make a statement.

I purchased a few 50th Anniversary Buck knifes as gifts for my high-school buddies at our upcoming 50th reunion. The knives are high quality, and appear to be very durable. Their fit and finish are top notch, each with a very sharp blade. I find the blade easy to open, but a little difficult to close while depressing the stiff lock. The knife is too heavy to carry in your pocket; so a sheath is provided. While they are durable enough for everyday use, I feel they make excellent presentation gifts for most men, and very affordable collectables.

New ebony handle 110 2019

I have several 110 74-80 , 2012,2018, Alaskan guide series 2018, and my 2019 with the ebony wood handle. I use my 2012 every hunting season and I bought the 2019 with the ebony wood handle to make a constant everyday carry for work and camping. I’ve carried it every day since July and really like it this knife does every thing that I need to do. I’ve used it to open bottles of two stroke oil and cutting cardboard boxes for a fire. And a little bit of everything else. I never leave home or my camper without it this knife is constantly on my belt if it’s not I really feel lost without it. Everyone I’m around camping or hunting always wants to use my 110 because I always keep it sharp. The 110 is my all time favorite knife to carry everyday I never go anywhere without it. If I had to rate the 110 on a scale of 1-10 it would definitely be a 10 because of how good they are. They actually sharpen really easily and hold a good edge. I only use sharpening stones to sharpen all my knives dosent matter pocket knives or all my buck brand hunting knives. I have sharpening equipment that is over 100 years old and get my buck Knives really really sharp.

It's a classic for a reason.

This is one of the most famous knives in the world for a reason. Don't overthink it. If you want one, buy one. Personally, I own more knives than I know what to do with. I carry and USE a ton of different folders on a regular basis - Everything from Emerson and Benchmade to Opinel and Case. I continue to be surprised at how often I throw this knife in my pocket. It's just such an easy choice, because there's virtually nothing to worry about. It's not expensive, so I'm not overly worried about damaging it or loosing it. It's rugged, well made and functional, so I never hesitate to use it. AND as an extra added bonus, I live in NY where knife laws are basically one massive "gray area". This knife does not fall into that gray area. It's just completely legal, which unfortunately is more than I can say about most of the other knives I like to carry. At the end of the day this knife is an icon and I truly believe everyone should own one at some point in their lives. If you love knives and decided not to buy one now, I would say it's a pretty safe bet that you'll end up buying a Buck 110 down the road.......... but seriously, just get one.

MY 2012 110

I have a 2012 buck 110 that I bought new in december 2012 after christmas that year from buck knives.com cause I had a buck fixed blade I had a issue with the steel buck sent me a new knife and a card for 25% off my next purchase and the 110 at that time msrp was $70.00 with my discount I only paid $60.29 back then this knife is my favorite I carry it all the time and really enjoy it. I use it while mowing and while camping all the time from april 1 till november 1 it does everything i need to do I have used it to cut rope and even boxes to start a camp fire and even open bags of ice for my cooler .i have even used it rabbit and squirrel hunting it has done everything I need to do i highly suggest this knife to anyone wanting a good everyday carry knife..I bought a case medium stockman in amber bone cv in december 2016 and have carried it ever since and really enjoy carring it and using it everyday . it's just like the case knife I got after my grandpa passed I bought this in dec 2016 so that i would not carry grandpa knife and take a chance on losing his i have carried it almost a year now it will be a year dec 29 2017 this knife is very nice and very easy to sharpen being it is the chrome vanadum steel only have to use a soft arkansas stone about once a month to touch it up and get it razor sharp again . I use it as a work knife when mowing grass from april till nov and use it at my camper all the time to open food or cut rope or cut boxes to start a camp fire in the evenings. i would suggest the chrome vanadium over the surgical stainless cause the cv holds a edge longer. but i do have a case folding hunter in surgical stainless that i carry when hunting and really like it.

An Affordable Legend

Yes this knife is a legend in its own time. All you have to do is hold it and manipulate it, and you will quickly appreciate the genius behind this well thought out tool. The fact that Buck can make these in the USA for well below fifty bucks is amazing and wonderful. Because young, old, rich, or poor, you can probably afford to pick one of these up. If you hunt, it's a fine skinner. If you don't, it slices, dices, and makes mounds of julienne fries...anything you could reasonably want a folding knife to do. I recommend it highly.

This knife is a keeper

I bought my first 110 in 1974 as a present to myself for making a perfect report card. I used it continuously while working as a house painter, mechanical maintenance assistant, all-round handy man. It has never failed me. Sharpening it is a bit of a challenge (diamond stones are very useful here) but it will hold an edge and is so sturdy you will be using it as a pry-bar in a pinch. Since then I have bought two more with fancy handles just to keep in my collection. My original is the go-to knife whenever there is work to be done. It is no wonder this model is still in production.

Gerade soviel Spiel im Klappmechanismus, dass es sich leicht mit zwei Händen öffnen lässt. Aus der Verpackung heraus ist es sofort in der Lage Haare auf dem Unterarm zu rasieren. Ein Loch für einen Lederriemen in der hintern Backe und eine Stahlkante zum Öffenen von Bierflaschen wären die einzig offene Wünsche. Very nice and sharp knife. Only item I wish is a hole in the bolster for a leather strap.

Great Quality!

I just purchased this blade from knifecenter.com... they had it to me in 3 days! Great service. Anyways, the knife is great. It's got some good weight to it, it was shaving sharp out of the box, and is just fun to look at and hold. I have used it for cutting up and shaving some sticks to use for making smores and it did the job perfectly. I also lent it to my friend at his wedding when the cake knife was missing. That's right, this knife is classy enough to cut the cake at wedding receptions as well as handle camp chores (although I wish I was carrying my Down Under Outback Bowie at the time as I would have loved to see it cut the cake!). The leather sheath is great and the opening, closing, and locking are great as well. There are some minor imperfections: uneven sanding on the wood plates, 50th anniversary emblem not centered all the way in its spot, uneven button on the front of the sheath, minor grime on the blade when first opened. If these were addressed, the knife would be perfect. However, for the price, you just cannot beat this quality. I love this knife.

As Expected The 110 Is A Great Knife!

I'm really not into folding knives, but I am into collecting note worthy knives and needless to say the Buck 110 is a note worthy knife. A few weeks ago, I bought the Buck 119 at a Big 5 Sporting Goods store and was impressed by its quality. When I learn about the 110, I knew I needed to get it. Just a few days ago I got the 110 at a Bass Pro Shop and was at awe at the quality and heft of the folding knife. I've never had a folding knife with the solid feel of the 110. It's built like a tank. The leather sheath is also impressive for its quality. This is a definite collector's item for those who are into knives. Good job, Buck!

Best Value, great knife in so many ways. Just ordered another. You just cant go wrong at these special prices on KCI. What a great knife, you need to clean them up a bit when you get them, but they shine up great and are very well designed and built. The factory is wonderful to deal with, $15 dollars to rehandle incl return postage, are you kidding! Get a nice custom sheath, what a package, if you looose it or give it away get another and enjoy. Really a great way to go. What an under rated knife, at this price while on special, get 2 you wont be sorry.

Back to roots

My first Buck 110 i purchased thirty five years ago. I used it on deer, javelina, small game, camp chores and work for years...until it grew legs and...poof. I've used many brands since and have come to the conclusion that i DON'T LIKE CLIPS!!! I'm back to a belt knife for good.

A true classic

This is a great american classic. A very reliable knife that does exactly what it is supposed to do. Classic design and materials. Very functional and useful design. You get all the benefits of a classic and the setbacks as well (no one handed opening or pocket click etc., but why would you want them in a knife like this) but tradition and pride are a great plus. THE BIG COMMENT HERE IS: Quality control and craftsmanship aren't what they used to be at buck. To find THAT buck knife that will last you and make you feel great, you NEED to go to a place with at least 10 in stock and look every knife over especially focusing on blade centering in the closed position even after pushing the blade one way or the other with your finger and blade wobble/lock-up in the open position. Once you find a good one as long as it looks nice to you then you are set and can be proud and confident. I have had to select my 2 knives this way and found that you need to look at at least 10 knives to find a really good one. Just the facts of life in terms of craftsmanship now a days. THAT SAID: This is THE folding hunting knife. When you want a lock-back folding hunter nothing is more traditional or American than this one. It also works great, easy to sharpen, holds an edge and feels good in the hand.

I use knives for work everyday, this knife sheath is great. This knife is just a classic. It’s just so handy to have a great lock knife even without the sheath throw it in your pocket and go. Some times you can’t carry a knife on your belt so this is perfect

I don't hunt and prefer a tactical or survival blade. I decided to try a old fashioned hunter. I was surprised at how stout it was. It's heavy from the brass bolsters but that's not a problem for me. Recommended for hunters and collectors. Might even be a good self defense blade.

Good Knife but not an EDC

It's a beautiful knife. The wood on it is amazing and smoothe. Especially when it meets the brass ends. I like the 50th anniversary badge. Just overall it's a classy knife. It is a little big though, hence the leather sheath that comes with it. And it's heavy. It's not a bad thing. But if you want a smaller lighter knife in your pocket you may want to keep looking but if you want a big heavy knife in your pocket all day then this knife is it. I will say for hunting, fishing, field dressing this knife will do the job. Also a great knife if you want to pass it down to your son or daughter one day.

I had one of these once, it's a good folder for anyone young or old. Those looking for thumbstuds on the blade and pocketclips, look elsewhere, as this is a classic, sheath livin' knife. Prepare to attach a leather/nylon pouch to belt, or put a brick in your pocket...

Classy, but not perfect

First off, this knife has the sharpest edge that I've ever seen from the factory. I also like that it has a lockback instead of a flimsy looking liner lock. However when these knifes first came out, they used 440C stainless, which is superior to the current 420. I find myself spending just as much time sharpening as cutting. Also, if you are going to carry a knife this big and heavy, you might as well carry a fixed blade instead. It came with a sheath that allows for vertical or horizontal carry, so that takes care of bulk. Still, a folder will never be as strong or easy to clean as a fixed blade. Anyway, this knife is still an excellent gutter to keep in your bail-out bag, or as a backup to a bowie. Just make sure to throw a stone in with it.

It's an Icon for a reason, right?

I've been around almost as long as the Buck 110 itself, but I had never even held one until a few weeks ago. Many knives that were similar, but not the original. Yeah, as soon as I opened it up and held it, I finally got why it's an Icon. In this modern era, it's big, heavy, slow, and inconvenient. But despite all of that it's still just extremely satisfying in hand. Even thought this is my first 110, I still pick up a sense of history and nostalgia of a time when things were built to last for generations. This big hunk of Brass, Wood and Steel is just epic!

Traditional Buck quality

I use for a fishing and general outdoor knife. I love that fact that buck has kept making this knife. It is reason I bought it. It's what Buck means to me. The knife is a little heavy and large for pocket carry but, that’s what it has the sheath for. I do wish that the sheath was made in the USA and not Mexico.

A Classic, one of the few remaining Buck Products Made In America. That's why I bought one for each of my kids. I remember one of my first hunting knives. A Buck knife I still have today.

Steel could be better 420hc doesn't have the best edge retention and the blade chipped when i was doing some light bushcraft work but you can just put a convex grind on it and it becomes just as sharp if not sharper than when you get it.

I had one before, beautiful knife, amazing quality, and it was from Walmart I was blown away. I gifted it to someone and never really got around to it til recently. So I ordered 2 more from here. My God what the hell is this? Seriously it's like someone dumped it into a barrel of oil and then shook it in a container full of dirt. It was so gritty it physically hurt to open the knife. The feel and sound was terrible. They could use it as a torture method, I'll tell you everything you want just stop opening and closing that knife. Added to the fact that this knife wasnt made with the idea to be opened by the user. I honeslty dont understand, and it's not a fluke because there's 2 of the same terrible quality. Whoever let that get shipped should be sent through various tests of competency or straight up fired. This is ridiculous.

It might as held be a flea market knife!

I bought my old 110 back in 2001 and have nothing bad to say about it.But this current Buck 110 I didn't like for various reasons... *Black gunk at the pivot which I had to clean off and sort of collected into the BUCK stamping in the blade. *Gritty action which struck a familiar bell of really cheap flea market lockbacks back in the day.The factories in China and Pakistan didn't clean out the metal shavings that produce this noise...apparently Buck Knives doesn't either now. *I think someone machined the recess for the lockback catch too deep because it looked like it sunk lower than the handle scale.I had a heck of a time trying to lift the lockback lever to unlock...it took two thumbs pressing down to unlock!Obviously a mis-machining issue. I received a replacement by Buck actually.My replacement still had the messy grease and still sounded gritty.The blade unlocked just fine (aside from the noise).But the edgework was pretty uneven versus my first flawed 110.For USA made Buck's quality is disappointing versus what it used to be.

Worst knife I've ever spent over $100 on.

I was looking forward to receiving this American classic and putting it to use. But when I got it, it look like it slipped through the QC cracks. The blade was way off center, the knife's action was very gritty - it both felt and sounded like it had fine sand in the action, and the blade looked like it was sharpened by a kid who was on his first day at the job. It was uneven, jagged in places and i could really feel the burs on it. So I went to my strop and tried to smooth it out. Bad idea, it jacked my strop up real bad. I will be returning mine for store credit. If this is the way Buck makes knives, I don't want another one.
