Worthy of Buck name

Great for every day carry. Quality fit and finish. Walks & talks better than knives costing 3 times as much. Steel holds an edge and sharpens just dandy. It may be made in China, but in my opinion, like many knives made in China these days, it's very well done at a very competative price. Buck offers an excellent similar model that IS made in Amriccal. So you can get that one if you're concerned about the China issue. Either way you won't be disappointed in the knife.

My everyday pocket knife

It's the one I go to first for carrying in my pocket. Whether dressed for the office or doing just about anything on weekends, its the right combination of dimensions, weight and versatility to handle most anything you would come across for a pocket knife.

Excellent and Fun

I love this knife. It disappears in the pocket and is fun to use. All three blades are sharp and easy to sharpen. I feel like an old timer when I open it up and have it in my hands. It could use a quick sharpen when you get it out of the box for the first time. For the price you can't do any better. The only issue I have is that the spey blade can be slightly difficult to open. Otherwise, it is a fantastic knife. Smaller and lighter than the 371.

Blade steel is too soft.

I have used this knife for light tasks around the house for the past six months. The fit and finish on this knife is excellent. It is a very faithful copy of the Buck 303 Cadet, with attractive wood handle scales. This knife uses 420J2 steel for blades, which is a cheap knife steel, to reduce manufacturing cost. The AG Russell knife steel chart lists 420J2 steel as having Rockwell hardness of 49-53. This is too soft for most tasks, requiring frequent sharpening. Given the excellent workmanship, it is unfortunate they did not use one of the decent Chinese knife steels. By contrast the USA Buck knives use the well known Buck steel (420HC), and are hardened to Rockwell 58. The USA Buck stands good use before needing to touch up the edge. My Buck 303 Cadet was purchased in the mid 1970’s and is still in great shape. The extra money for the USA product is definitely money well spent.
