Case medium stockman 2016 production year

I have my grandpa old case medium stockman 6332 that I got in April 2014 when he passed away. In December 2016 I went and bought a brand new case amber bone medium stockman with chrome vanadium steel blades 63032-079 for $60.29 because I wanted one like his to carry without taking the chance of losing his. I’ve carried it all the time since buying it new in December 2016 and it’s been a very good knife and has the same chrome vanadium steel that grandpa old one has. This is one of my favorite knives to carry and I use it all the time as a work knife when mowing grass from April till November and use it camping constantly I use it for everything that I do and have opened boxes with it and cut rope with it The only difference between my case knife and grandpa old one is the handles his is a brown bone handle and mine is the amber bone handles they both have the chrome vanadium steel blades and will get razor sharp and hold a edge really well. Every time I use my case 63032 it reminds me of the old one my grandpa had and carried for years. I really can’t see any major difference between grandpa old case and the one I bought in December 2016. The only time my grandpa old case knife gets carried is during thanksgiving and Christmas holiday time and other than that I keep it locked up and put away although I do get it out at different times to look at it. The new case knives are very good quality and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a good quality knife to carry.

Overall for the price this is a very nice knife. The only drawback to this particular pattern is that the 3 blades overlap and consequently rub on each other. Aside from that knife is stunning, near perfect fit and finish, springs are nice and tight and blades seat confidently. The CV blades are not stainless so require more diligence to maintain but will age well with the knife. The factory edges weren't very flash, but that was easily fixed.

Just bought another case 63032-079

At end of October 2021 I went bought another case xx 63032-079 medium stockman amber bone handles and chrome vanadium steel blades for a neighbor as a Christmas gift he has seen the one I have that’s a 2016 production model year and he has used it before. I really can’t wait to see his reaction when he opens it up close to Christmas time we usually do our exchange before Christmas Day before everyone family gets in town. He will definitely be amazed because he totally will not be expecting a case xx amber bone medium stockman for Christmas. I’ve actually been teasing him by carrying my case 63032 from 2016 constantly all the time when I am around him.

Case xx amber bone cv medium stockman

I have had this knife since December 29,2016 and it will be four years old come December 29,2020 and it’s the chrome vanadium steel blades version and has been used for a work knife and for camping all the time constantly and it will definitely get really razor sharp using Arkansas hard and soft sharpening stones and even using a ceramic sharpening stone or a wustof sharpening steel for minor touch up on it I have used it to open the mail and different packaging and used it to open Christmas gifts and have cut up many boxes to start a camp fire. Even have used it to open cans of Copenhagen snuff after it’s been in the refrigerator. This case 63032-079 medium stockman amber bone handles and chrome vanadium steel is one of my favorite knives to actually carry all the time. I have my grandpa old case xx 6332 medium stockman from 1978 I went and bought the 63032-079 to have one exactly like grandpa old one so I would definitely never have to worry about losing his. Only carry my grandpa old case xx 6332 on special occasion like thanksgiving and Christmas

Case medium stockman

On December 29,2018 I have had my case medium stockman with amber bone handle and chrome vanadium steel blades two years and have carried it everyday since then. I bought this because I wanted one like my grandpa old case medium stockman that is from 1978. I got his in April 2014 when he passed away. I bought one similar to his that way I could carry it and not have to worry about losing the one that he carried for years. My case medium stockman has done me a very good job for the two years I have had it.

Beautiful and Well-Made Knife

This is Grampa's pocket knife. No frills like assisted opening or caribiner, just a basic pocket knife for everyday, no threat carry (Oh, my God, he's got a knife!). The blades must be lightly oiled now and then, but they sharpen quickly, have a very keen edge and hold the edge. The bone handles are painstakingly fitted to the frame, as are the pinched bolsters, with no edges or protruding rivets to catch your skin or your pocket lining. If you need a knife that opens with one hand and locks there, or hangs from the top of your pocket on a clip, this isn't for you. But if you want one great "made in USA" knife with good steel, and that will cut open shipping boxes, or a bag of Doritos, or shave a wooden peg at your hobby bench, and do it for the rest of your life (and the person you leave it to, most likely), take a look at this knife.

2016 CASE XX 63032-079

Bought it new in December 2016 to take the place of my grandpa old case 6332 medium stockman with chrome vanadium steel blades that way I wouldn’t lose his so I bought one of my own that way I would have one like grandpa without losing his old one. I have carried it since December 2016 and have never had any problems with it at all either

Amber Bone review

This item was a gift for a very dear friend. He uses his knife around the home and farm. The three blades allows him choice depending on the job of opening pacages or just sharpening a stick for roasting hotdogs on an open fire. He loves this knife and braggs about ot too me on a regular basis.

CASE XX 62302 medium stockman amber with chrome vanadium steel blades

Back in December 2016 I bought a brand new case xx 63032-079 medium stockman with amber bone handles and chrome vanadium steel blades because I didn’t want to lose my grandpa old case xx 6332 medium stockman with chrome vanadium steel blades made in 1978. My grandpa old one just stays put up and I strictly carry my case 63032-079 with amber bone handles and chrome vanadium steel blades that way I have one exactly like it. My case 63032 has been a very good everyday carry knife in the five years I’ve carried it. The chrome vanadium steel is actually pretty easy to sharpen and hold a edge really well and dosent take much to keep it sharp I keep it touched up on a stone about every three weeks that way I’ve always got it sharp and ready to use when I need it. I’ve used it camping constantly for opening boxes and cutting them up to start a camp fire this knife has done a little bit of everything and still actually going strong.

Case 63032-079 amber bone and chrome vanadium steel blades made 2016

In December 29,2016 I bought a brand new CASE XX 63032-079 amber bone handles medium stockman with chrome vanadium steel blades from my local apex tru value because I wanted one similar to my grandpa old case xx 6332 medium stockman with chrome vanadium steel made in 1978. I got my grandpa old case xx 6332 in April 2014 after he passed away and I carried it for a while but didn’t want to lose grandpa old one. So I purchased the 63032 with chrome vanadium steel blades and have carried it all the time since then and the chrome vanadium steel blades will definitely get razor sharp edge and stay that way i use it as a work knife and when camping all the time I keep it touched up on a stone about every three weeks that way I’ve always got it sharp constantly my case knife reminds me so much of the old one I have of my grandpas the only difference is the handle color of it . The 6332 was changed to the 63032 in late 1978 early 1979 and has been in the case official line up since then . I’ve used it to open my mail cut boxes to start a camp fire in the evening while camping. The only time I carry my grandpa old one is special occasion like Christmas and thanksgiving time other than that it sits and i strictly carry my case 63032 constantly all the time everyday.

In 2014 I got my grandpa old case xx 6332 made in 1978 with chrome vanadium steel blades I carried it for a while and decided to put it up in 2016. I went to my local apex tru value hardware store and bought a brand new case xx 63032-079 amber bone handles and chrome vanadium steel blades 2016 production model so I would have one exactly like grandpa old one and I’ve carried it all the time since buying it new in December 2016. The chrome vanadium steel blades are actually pretty easy to sharpen and stay sharp for a good while I use it as a work knife and when camping all the time constantly. I can’t really see any difference in my case knife versus my grandpa old one. It has been a very good knife. I sharpen it using Arkansas hard and soft sharpening stones constantly all the time and when it needs a minor touch up I use a wustof sharpening steel or a ceramic sharpening stone.

Nice pocket knife with some drawbacks

I bougth this model after having a Buck Stockman Model 371 for a while. That knife was made in China. For that reason I was still looking for a traditional knife handcrafted in USA. I have to say that I am not fully satisfied with this Case pocket knife. I don't like the fact that blades rub one against another. I investigated this issue on the Web, and seems to be a common problem in Case production knives. I feel sorrow to conclude that made in China knife shows better quality than this Case stockman.

Wort CASE Scenario

I recently purchased a CASE Amberbone Stockman (CA079)to add to my collection of Stockman knives. I have a significant number of Stockmans of varying ages by many manufacturers. There are a number usual suspects; Queen, Buck, Schrade, Rough Ryder, Boker, Hen & Rooster, Marbles etc; some old classics like Primble, Parker, Pine Knot, Ranger, Uncle Henry, Frontier, etc. and lesser know items such as Anvil, E.C. Cummings and Kabar. Unlike every other stockman knife I own (more than fifty) the CASE was had a seriously scratched main blade (the clip point) from DAY ONE. There is a radial score (gouge) approximately 1.5” from the hinge.The cause of this damage was due to the point of the sheeps foot blade digging into the clip point (right out of the box). Call it poor engineering or quality control, but the fact is a clinker leaked out. When I wrote to CASE about the problem I received and nice (yet slightly condescending) response explaining "blade rub" to me. I'm a mechanical engineer, and as you can imagine wasn't as appreciative of the "explanation" as you might think. The customer service representative assured me that this was "normal" for a Stockman knife pattern--three blades are just too many for a pocket knife of such size. Let me be clear; Case’s Quality Control Manager says that it is absolutely normal for a new, never carried or sharpened Stockman knife to have scratched & scored blades. Now I own lots of slip joint pocket knives. Some with four, five even SIX blades (by other manufacturers) Apparently these other knife-makers didn’t get the “three blade blade-rub” memo from Case because guess what? That’s right NO BLADE RUB. In no other case do I own a new, unused, knife where the blades don't close properly or that there is so much blade rub that one blade is destroying another. HOW IS THIS NORMAL? As far as Knife for the dollar I'm going to have to say that IMHO Case knives are ABSOLUTELY not worth it! Ten out of ten I'll go with a Chinese-made Rough Rider, German-made Boker or a Spanish-made Hen & Rooster. These other knives, in my experience, are better quality and price. As I see it Case it banking on shaming consumers to “Buy American.”
