Very nice EDC from Case
My blue/black carbon fiber copy of this guy just arrived in the mail. Very unusual look and feel, especially for a Case, but I think it’s going to make for a great EDC. Right off the bat, the blue/black carbon fiber handle is even more stunning in person. The edges of the handles are just a bit sharp, but a quick pass with fine sandpaper softened them up just enough. As has been noted in a few YT reviews, the opening assist is a little on the light side - not quite as snappy as Kershaw’s Speedsafe, but plenty strong enough to open with a good push on the stepped thumbstud. That thumbstud feels a lot like the one on the Kershaw Blur, which definitely helps on the opening action and is easier on the thumb than the typical rounded ones. And the softer assist makes it easier to close with one hand than most other assisted folders, so I find that to be more than an acceptable tradeoff. The knife itself is very light for its size; actual weight is 3.64 oz, yet it still feels very solid thanks to the stiffness of the CF. The real beauty of this knife is the blade. It’s called a drop point, but it’s almost a cross between a spear point and a wharncliffe, which is what attracted me to it in the first place. Overall this is a great looking knife that I’m looking forward to giving some serious carry time.
