I bought this knife as an EDC. This is a beast of a blade but not overly heavy due to the titanium handle. The locking mech is a little stiff but i would never worry about it failing. Opening the blade was not difficult at all as long as you use a thumb motion which is perpendicular to the hinge, otherwise it can be difficult. Knife did not come as sharp as i would like but was not difficult to sharpen. Overall a beautiful knife, great craftsmanship. If you are tempted to buy this knife i would recommend doing so, you wont regret it.

solid knife

Received this knife yesterday and it was tight, stuck often when opening. I opened it up and oiled it now it flies open and drops shut with a little shake. I love the size of the handle, I know i have something in my hand, and its quite comfortable. I also picked up the dark purple clip for this. It is about half the thickness of the clip this comes with. It looks great but I do wish it was the exact same size.

An absolute tank of a knife.

This is the third 228 I've purchased, but the first with the new clip and blade grind. I am not disappointed. I cannot recommend this blade enough. If you're on the fence about purchasing it, do it. You won't regret it.

Redencion 228 midtech

Lock up is solid as a vault. Detent is unsurpassed. Blade is perfectly centered. Fit and finish is nothing less than expected from a Chaves blade. This knife fits any requirement that is expected of a top notch hand built blade. Grab the opportunity to buy this knife......you will not be disappointed.

Badass.

This is the first midtech knife I've ever purchased. I started saving up as soon as I saw it. I own dozens of knives and this knife has the strongest detent out of any knife I own. It took some time to get used to learning how to open it. Once you have it down this thing flys open and locks up solid with a satisfying click.

Brick, Beast and a Bada$$

This blade is a beast of a blade. I was anxious to get it but I finally got it. It's and EDC and a vault blade. A friend was procrastinating about getting one and after he saw mine he went ahead an purchased one. Well worth the investment, quality and beauty.

Very nice tank of a knife

I'm a sucker for overbuilt knives, if you love this too than look no further and buy one of these. It's great in the hand, even though I have very large hands. For the beefiness of this knife it sure doesn't weigh that much. And will you look at the pocket clip, it's just gorgeous. Now a few minor draw backs I've experienced: The knife I got was not all that sharp, if I buy in this price range I expect at least a shaving sharp blade, and it wasn't. There was no lubricant whatsoever in the pivot, once oiled up it works like a charm. The thumb stud has sharp edges and is somewhat uncomfortable in use. There is a lot of lock stickiness, with some graphite and enough opening and closing this will go away. Overall I still love this knife, but some points had to be addressed. W.
