Not a closet pole

I was reading some of the reviews and had to comment on the one comparing this ash stave to his walk in closet pole. It's not a closet pole. Long closet poles are constructed from finger-joined and edge-glued hard wood. They will support weight but not the continuous strikes or blunt banging that occurs while quarterstaff sparring, or throwing and thrusting a spear against a target. A long closet pole is not made from one piece of wood like this ash stave is.

A good pole for a medieval pole arm.

This product cam only very slightly warped to a point where you won't see it if you don't look for it but that is because of the weather where I live. I use the product as the haft of a halberd and it does the job well.

Very pleased

I ordered two of these for myself and a friend. We were both very pleased with the quality of the wood. The shafts needed shaping and sanding, but were beautiful once oiled.

A great quality stick

I bought two of these for use as quarterstaffs. I bought from KnifeCenter.com because the shipping elsewhere is extortionate. Here the price and shipping were both reasonable. Weight and thickness is perfect, length is good for a six foot man and they can always be cut down. My wife, who is very lightly built, agrees that the weight is spot on. The grain is quite straight, enough that I do not expect problems, and absolutely knot free. They arrived smoothly finished, with squared off ends, and just a few minutes with a file, sandpaper and linseed oil and they are beautiful and ready to use. A great product.

Nice ash poles

Very good for all pole instruments and effective for quarterstaff training. Using as base for custom-smithed authentic weapons able to be used and fully functional. This is a good pole for many uses and at 7 feet would make a great Banner Pole.

The quality of these poles is very high. They are straight, have a nice weight to them and arrived pre-sanded and very smooth.

This makes a great beginner staff

I got this as a staff for my cousin's birthday, and I think it works great. The only thing that could have been better, and presumably isn't done because this product is used for other things as well, is that I needed to laquer it before he could use it so that he wouldnt get splinters in his hands from using it. It absorbs shocks from hits well, and we use our training gear quite heavily, and hasn't even made a sound that might suggest it was going to break from a hit, and seems to be fairly good at use as a staff in general. Quite pleased with this product.

Great pole and found in many closets

I'm torn. This is a great pole. But it's just what you find in many homes in the closet with clothes hanging on it. Pay attention to the diameter: it's thick. Advertised as a pole that you could add a spear. I wanted it as a heavy bo staff. Bit stout for that but a good quarterstaff nonetheless. It's a good quality closet pole!! My wife said that and she's right. It's the same pole our builder put in our walk-in closet to hand clothes on. Great pole but you've seen it before at your local hardware store.
