Impressed.

I took a chance figuring I’d gift it to somebody if I didn’t like it. Well I DO like it. Very much! Nothing wrong with D2 bladesteel, classic & effective. Knife has a clean look, Persian style upswept blade came hair popping sharp, edge bevels are even & precise and the surface of the blade free of blemishes. This is at least on par with WE’s great Civivi budget line, which themselves are surprisingly awesome and inexpensive with great fit & finish. Flipping action on the CJRB Gobi is sweet, the liner detent is tuned nicely so the flipper feels crisp, smooth & snappy. When closing, the liner makes a clean ‘thunk’ sound as the little ball mates up with the blade’s detent. Very precise! The jade G10 was the tipping point, why I really bought it, the orange aluminum accents are very nicely done. The clip is nothing special but works just as it is supposed to. Overall construction feels much better than 90% of knives from the also acronym-heavy classic brand CRKT. On that note, CJRB probably doesn’t stand for anything, maybe they were thinking it would remind people of CRKT? Either way, this little CJRB is constructed with precision that we would have only seen in a $70 or $80 knife, just a dozen years ago. I love to ‘buy American’ and a large portion of my knife collection is, but with so many imported gems like this knife and many other new companies, it’s hard not to want to try out a bunch of CJRB’s wares.

Amazing !

An excellent value, I have paid over $395 for a knife that had a blade that was not as sharp and does not hold an edge nearly as well, to be fair the material is very high end stainless. D2 holds the best edge I have experienced in over 60 years. I sharpen knives professionally. If you buy one of these and keep it clean your great grandson would thank you. With moderate care, you could clean and skin a whole deer without having to stop and hone the edge.

Quality knife

For the price this knife is hard to beat. Compared to the Civivi with D2 steel- the blade is thicker and stronger. The sharpness of the blade is remarkable. From box cutting to Sheetrock trimming even whittling oak the blade has kept its sharpness. Not to mention that the overall quality of the knife is unparalleled to my benchmade knives. Overall a home run.
