Nailed it (but fiddly clip reversal)

David C. Anderson's collab with CJRB exceeds nearly all the expectations I had for this budget folder. Size, feel, comfort, action, blade shape, all feel fantastic. The broad handle is comfortable for my not-larger-than-average hands. The thumb ramp that spans handle and spine is exactly where my thumb want it to be, and it allows me to choke up on the blade comfortably and effectively. The slight depressions on the micarta scales between the pivot and the blade are a nice Easter egg, as they're perfectly placed for a comfortable pinch grip. The crowning on the blade feels luxurious. The thumb studs and crossbar studs feel solid and accessible but don't project so far out that they catch pocket fabric. The blade shape puts the tip right where is should be (if you imagine the thumb ramp a little more rounded off, it's very similar to the shape of a Bugout).

Got this knowing it was AR-RPM9, so don't have super-high expectations for the steel, but at this price point this is a great beater EDC.My only quibble is that, as a southpaw, reversing the deep-carry clip was much fiddlier than I expected. After removing the clip, one can see that the curl at the screw end is pronounced, giving the clip significant spring and pocket grip. However, the thickness of the shaped micarta scales and the length of the screws combine with the clip curl to require significant downward force when screwing down the bladeward clip screw, otherwise the threads don't reach the steel liner and can't bite. It would have been nice to have a flush-mounted clip to help avoid that fiddliness.

Nonetheless, except for that one quibble, everything else is not just great but also southpaw-friendly. So, kudos to DCA and CJRB.

Excellent small EDC pocket folder

I use this knife for common cutting tasks: cardboard, opening packages, cutting and trimming paper, tape. etc. The knife arrived sharp. The green micarta scales are tactilely delightful to feel. I find myself fidgeting with this fine little folder and rubbing the micarta scales. DCA, you designed a great little knife. My hat is off to you. I may need to buy another couple for friends and family.

Great design, quality build.

Glass smooth action and sharp right out of the box. The crossbar lock and perfectly tuned detent make the thumb stud unnecessary. Speaking of the crossbar lock this one performs better than many of my $300 plus knifes. Feel in hand is great with no hot spots. Very functional blade shape. To me this is the perfect mid duty EDC and at a great price. I am ordering more for friends and family. I have many knives in my collection that I pad 3 or 4 times this price that don't have this build quality.

Pegs the meter on fit and finish

This piece pegs the meter for design, function and fit & Finish. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this satisfied by with a knife in this price range. There is not a single hot spot anywhere on the knife. The crowned spine is very nice. Very nice in the hand. As reviewed by DCA himself, the action on the ceramic ball brings is smooth and satisfying. The cross bar lock is smoother and more deliberate than my Bugout…way to go! Since I just opened the box, I have no idea about edge performance. If this piece came around sooner, I would a lot less knifes in my collection. The reversible pocket clip is just sitting on the surface of the handle but the screws are countersunk. It could be a problem for those who use pocket clips . I don’t. Very nice done. Get one for yourself and one for your friend.

Best bang for the buck.

The fit & finish of this knife is fantastic. The knife feels way better than the price suggests in my experience. It is perfectly snappy in all the best ways. Very sharp right out of the box & much more comfortable than I thought it could be. The scallops at the top of the handle really allow for very comfortable & precise cutting. The looks are obviously going to be a preference thing, but that gold accent really makes this knife aesthetically for me. This knife goes with me everywhere & at this price point allows me to do so carefree. So far, my favorite daily use knife. I have & will continue to recommend this knife.

Best Blade for the Money

I've been collecting and using knives for 35+ years, and this is by far the best value per dollar spent I've ever seen in a knife. The blade, the materials, the fit and finish, everything about this knife is just superb. The blade shape and geometry are designed to maximal-ize the cutting surface, power, and persistence in the cut. The steel choice is awesome and the finish with the steel is just absolutely STUNNING! The grain in the steel when it catches the sunlight is just something special. The crossbar lock and action is super smooth, tight where it shood be, and snappy. The handle material catches the eye, and the little gold accent at the pivot is the chef's kiss on the aesthetics. David C. Andersen really knocked it out of the park here. The design is amazing, the look is super cool, and the knife CUTS no matter what you throw at it. I cannot think of a single knife I've owned in 35 years that gave me more for the money than this. I plan to get several more!
