Setting the bar higher
I share Jim Skelton's sentiment, where he said regarding this model and the Sablya (sp?) that [sic] "they have set the bar very high" & they are producing knives that should cost twice as much. There is one gripe, and I'll address it here first before the pros. This knife has no insert or over-travel stop. That means disengaging the lock can be a little sticky. And since this is a slimmer knife, I'd hate to go too far and loosen the lockbar tension. I'm not sure if this was intentional or an oversight. It's not enough to take away a star but something buyers may not notice from pics and specs. So, the good. There is a lot. The machining on the frame is just great. The width decreases from the spine to the handle opening with a slight curve that ends in a dishpan-style bottom. Furthermore, each edge has its own angled edge. Action is fast. It's smooth. The flipper tab is a nice height and the extended track behind it has inward bevels making your finger glide thru the action. Every line and curve on this piece looks like it was designed by a committee of artists rather just one person. Some people said they didn't like the spear-point head on the blade. Well, there are a lot of heavily medicated people on the planet. Most have internet access. Seeing it in person one realizes immediately that it compliments the knife shape while open or closed. Is it an edc? For some. For me, I will carry it sparingly. Is it versatile enough to go with jeans, khakis, sport coat, or full suit? You better believe it. Btw, that pocket clip is butter. It slides right over any material; jeans, hoody pocket, my suit pants pocket, etc al. And it keeps the perfect amount of tension. Did I mention it's an M390 blade? I'm so blown away by the design and function I forgot about one of the most important features. To summarize, I can't imagine anyone being anything but thrilled with this piece. It is of the quality of knives that cost $800 and up. And like the knives in that price range this also comes numbered, certificate of authenticity (hand written) , microfiber cloth, and nice zip pouch (microfiber lined) with inner sleeve.
