Them "runes"

OK, this is a follow up to my earlier review. Customer Service Representative - "Malachi" - has gone above and beyond (in my humble opinion) in CSR duties in helping to resolve this issue for me. Here is the text of the email: "I received a response for the marketing chief at Condor in regard to your questions. Here is what he had to say: "We use Viking Runes and it is an interpretation of the word Condor But it is an interpretation not a proper Viking word" César A. Á Jefe de Mercadeo Marketing Chief" Malachi, I'd buy you & the whole CSR DEPT pizza if I could. While Condor's answer might not be satisfactory, Knife Center has come through, yet again, where they really didn't have to. Yet another reason why I will be a life long customer of theirs and proves why shopping with them has been the right choice. Solid inventory, astronomical customer service, and a great YouTube presence. If you ain't Team KC, you're seriously losing out.

Better than expected

The broken back seax are some of my favorite blade type I own several most from Kult of Athena when I found out that condor made one I was very interested I use Tatami Mat - Cutting Mat for testing most of my weapons and they are usually made for swords but can work perfectly fine for blade sizes 5 inches and up , to practice using the weapon . I was surprised, now this is the shortest seax I own and it can cut half way through a tatami mat with no effort, (With correct edge alignment) when connecting with the tatami mat.and it’s about the size of an arm so I’m really appreciating the work of this historical blade shape condor is using . The reason I’m giving it 4 is because it could have been a bit sharper and I know why they don’t make it extremely Sharp is because back between 8th - 11th Century AD. This type of knife was not only a fighting knife it was also used for daily chores hunting/Skinning game , making fires and cooking anything you could think of. This smaller type of seax would allways be in reach. For about 75$ this thing is a steal most seax type weapons of this quality are much more expensive. Thanks condor. Keep it up

Nice little knife

This is a good little knife. My only complaints are cosmetic and really shouldn't stop you from purchasing this knife. Unless...... The product photos here brush over something that I feel could potentially be an issue for those who choose to take it seriously. For those who don't care, read no further and buy this knife. The (potential) issue: runes. There are "runes", of a reported norse style, on the sheath and blade, that I have been unable to source. They appear to be neither elder nor younger futhark, so far as I can tell. However, the fantastic customer service representatives at Knife Center have managed to get in touch with the folks at Condor, and they tell me the runes translate to "Condor". Yet, the problem (for me) remains, where did these runes come from if they're not elder or younger futhark? If you don't care, buy this knife. It looks great, feels fantastic in the hand, and is wonderfully put together. It makes me want to travel to El Salvador to see how the factory works. Condor is doing some great things with carbon steel and I'm loving it. When I can find out where these runes come from, that 5th star will be earned. I love you, Knife Center. I love your customer service, and I adore The DCA & Thomas. Keep on keepin' on & stay sharp! All my appreciation & respect, Luke

Good looking knife but not sharp

This is a very nice looking knife, the sheath seems high quality, and the carving, and embossing is well done. The grinds on the blade are even and smooth. The bad part is that the knife showed up so dull I could run my thumb down the edge without worrying much about cutting myself. I spent about an hour with whetstones and got it sharper but I don't think it will get to truly hairshaving sharp because it is still steeply ground. I'm going to try my worksharp powered sharpener to change the grind angles a bit and get it to my preferred sharpeness level
