Disappointed

I’m going to start out by saying that I am a fan of Condor and their products. But this one disappointed me. That being said, it doesn’t mean that they didn’t get a lot right with either. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would. I wanted a nice, light, hawk to keep in my field kit for work. I already have a Condor TRT that I keep in my car for emergencies. After quite a bit of comparison shopping I settled on this one. When it arrived I immediately liked the overall balance and feel. The paracord handle is very well done and feels great in my hand. I like the pommel that extends out and how it is executed. The finish on the steel is excellent and the blade was nicely ground and sharp. Not beautiful and razor sharp, but good enough for a field tool. So far, so good. Then I noticed the spike, which also comes sharpened. I’ve never seen anything like it. I wish that I could post pictures here because I can’t really describe it. It’s as if someone started to sharpen it, realized they were doing it the wrong way, and just stopped. It’s hideous. Then there’s the sheath. One of the reasons that I chose this particular model was that I liked the sheath and the potential versatility. Well, it’s a neat design but the four big snaps that are used in key spots (two at the belt loop and two on the straps that secure the axe in the sheath) are of poor quality. They don’t “snap” closed. So consequently they keep coming unsnapped. I almost sent this back but I just hate dealing with returns. I’m disappointed because the previous two Condor products I’ve purchased had been excellent. This has axe and sheath are a good design and have the potential to be excellent as well but in the case of mine anyway, it was poorly executed.
