Umm - Yeah.

First, the things I like - the size, the shape, the grip and the thinness. I like a +4 inch blade, I like a bowie style hollow grind with a thin edge, I like a grippy Japanese style handle wrap that pretty much eliminates the need for guard and the thinness makes it easy to conceal. The things I didn't like - the sharpness and the steel or at least the heat treat. The edge was very snaggy ootb. You can get it very sharp but it doesn't seem to want to hold that edge - hence the suspect heat treat. The worst part is the sheath. It was extremely hard to draw and inserting the knife and redrawing it after fixing up the edge made it all dull and snaggly again. I tried to loosen up the sheath without much success and ended up making my own out of kydex. That seems to have fixed the dulling problem and drawing is much easier. I wish CKRT had used decently heat treated D2 rather than the apparently poorly treated 8Cr13MoV. Plastic should not dull steel to the extant that it does this knife - even glass reinforced nylon. They really need to redesign the sheath and look into the heat treat. If they fix those two things, this would be a fantastic hideout knife.

Needs improvement

This knife is an example of a decent idea that fell short on execution. The handle has a good grip with lots of space for the hand and very positive traction. The blade shape is satisfactory in slicing ability and piercing potential. But the stock of the blade is its downfall. The thinness of the blade makes it feel flimsy and brittle. I would never attempt to do any kind of prying with this knife or doing anything to stress the tip. A more substantial blade stock would have made this knife far more capable. The sheath is also an issue. It is extremely difficult to free the blade from the sheath once it is locked in. If this knife had been fabricated with more robust dimensions, higher quality materials and better design features, then it might have been worth the asking price. As it is, it falls short of expectations.

Won't hold an edge

I like this knife, but it just doesn't hold an edge. Something is very off with the heat treat. I also have an Obake, I presume made by the same material at the same factory, and it has the same problem. If this was half decent at holding an edge it would be one of my favorite knives. But it's not.
