Bowie

I run with one on my water bottle and I love it. Lots of shady folks where I run. I have it secured to the hand strap on the bottle, upside down. If I need it, I just reach over pull it out. Very fast, light, and I have never had it fall out after 100s of miles. Just sayin.

Amazing quality...especially at this price

I’ve owned the bowie version of this knife for about 10 years. I absolutely love it, but I’m not a huge fan of the bowie shape for utility work. I got this stonewashed drop point version about a month ago, and I ordered a 2nd one today just to have a spare. It’s a lot of cutting power in a tiny package. It’s super sharp out of the box, the G10 scales are great, and it fits so comfortably in the hand. Another buyer reported problems with the sheath, but I’ve had no problems with either of mine. They are secure with no rattle. And they are really easy to mount vertically or horizontally with the included belt clip. This is a great neck or belt knife and it’s a steal at this price.

This is a decent knife for the price, sharp enough out of the box. However, the sheath is made from a softer than kydex plastic and does not hold the knife securely. As a result I DO NOT feel safe with this around my neck. Just to be sure, I put it around my neck, jumped once, and the knife fell out of the sheath. I will add another rivet to the sheath myself to make it more secure, but this is such an obvious flaw that one has to question the level (or existence) of quality control. This knife can be a great tool, but the sheath makes it inherently dangerous to the person carrying it

Nice knife, LOUSY sheath

Bought mine because I wanted a cheap knife, light-duty knife for opening packages, cutting tape, etc. Wanted a fixed-blade rather than a folder because I often wear gloves and/or have muddy or rusty hands that I don't want to stick into my pocket for a folder. Loved the knife, but the sheath...is very lacking. I actually put mine on my belt using the included belt loop, because I didn't trust the knife to stay in the sheath hanging from my neck. Turns out I was right, as it came out of the sheath somewhere yesterday and now I have no idea where it is. Just to be clear, the knife was sitting blade-down in the sheath and managed to fall out. The knife was excellent for my purposes, but now I've lost a perfectly good knife because of a crappy sheath. I don't recommend this knife unless you plan on making your own sheath.

Poor sheath retention

This is a cute little knife and I love the form factor, but the sheaths on the TWO that I purchased would not retain the knife with even the smallest shake when hung in the neck. I returned both. The Bowie version I bought for my daughter had a VERY positive click and holds firm. Not sure what’s up with that.

Definitely Minimal

Not getting a lot here for the money. Not trying to be a cheapskate but honestly this diminutive item doesn’t warrant a price of more than $15.00. It’s tiny size and type of material don’t add up to being worth more than that. There are better options for knives of this genre. The first that comes to mind is the Cold Steel Mini Tac. As noted in other reviews, the Minimalist definitely has issues with the sheath. The lockup is pretty weak. Perhaps CRKT assumes the weight of the knife doesn’t require a strong retention. I use a simple solution to help secure the knife by running a small length of elastic shock-cord through the sheath and looped under the opening to hold the knife in more securely. The size and weight can work as an advantage to carry as a neck knife or a pocket fixed blade. The flimsy cordage at the pommel does little to help provide grip. So little that I trimmed it off almost immediately. The only positive feature of the knife is it’s sharpness. It has one of the sharpest factory edges of any commercial knife I’ve ever purchased. It has potential for a decent pocket fixed blade for box cutting and small chores. But for the current asking price, there are far better options.
