Great small edc fixed blade.

This is a great edc fixed blade. I found the sheath to work really well compared to what I heard from other people's reviews but I wear it on my belt and do not use it as a neck knife. The blade is big enough for most edc tasks and came very sharp.

CRKT minimalist katana

I have been EDCing this for a bit now and it’s comfortable around the neck, and even comes with an attachment for belt carry. The only downside to this is the edge retention, but that’s not a problem because 8cr13mov is very easy to sharpen.

Highly Recommend

The Minimalist line is a triumph of design, and if you know the basics of sharpening then the 8Cr steel is really not a big deal. The Katana feels like a really nice compromise between a fixed blade and a folder. You get the blade size of a bigger folder, but it has all the usual benefits of a fixed blade (no lock, deploys quickly, great handle/grip). Yet unlike bigger fixed blades, it has basically no profile when belt carried in the right positions, and unlike a folder there is no clip sticking out of your pocket. In that way it becomes potentially more discrete than most folders or fixed blades while maintaining respectable size. The blade has a compound grind to give you a thin and flat(ish) cutting edge, a thicker grind behind the more curved portion, and a respectable tip. I think this shows that despite the obvious "mall ninja" appeal (and genuine tactical utility) of the Minimalist Katana, it still has EDC in mind with the design.

Little Big Knife! Super Cutter!

The Columbia River Knife and Tool Minimalist Katana is one of the latest in the CRKT Minimalist Knife series. Do not let the visually-small size of this super knife fool you. The blade is well over three inches long and is fully razor-sharp and capable of some of the toughest cutting chores. It is perfect as a neck knife, fixed-blade pocket knife (with no gadgets, locks, devices, or mechanisms to fail!) and could even be used as an emergency survival knife. The resin-permeated fiber composite handle material is secure and comfortable with it's finger-grooves, and very durable, near element-proof, and the multi-angled and beveled blade shape is perfect for a wide-range of cutting chores. I highly recommend this knife for both collectors and users. This is a superb price for this superb knife.

Great backup knife

Good size blade that hides well on my belt. Blade shape is perfect for everyday use & self-defense! Only negative is that the blade wasn't razor sharp out of the box.

Great little knife, but cramped

I really do like this knife quite a bit and like how compact a package it is. That said, the handle is a bit short for my XL hands. My third finger is pushed partially off the back of the knife and I definitely feel a bit cramped. That said, not enough to stop using the knife. I actually like the balance, secure grip, and the blade shape. The compound grind does pose a bit of a challenge for sharpening right at the transition point from one grind to the next. I will buy more minimalists. Only reason I knocked down a point is that the size of the knife and the sheath would make it great for pocket carry but the rivets are too small for the hardware that comes with an Ulticlip and screws included with the sheath are too small for the clip. I will need to buy washers somewhere...
