Great quality. Great construction.

I have a collection of about a dozen tomahawks - some of them costing 4x-5x as much - but this one is hands down my favorite. I just got back from an 8-day backcountry trip and this hawk was never far from my hand. Highly recommend for practical field use.

Great tool.

I bought this with the idea of customizing it and making it my own. When I got it the first thing I did was take a flap disk to the head and sand it through the grits to get a satin finish. I etched my own design into it. I scraped the handle, stained it and oiled it. It wasn't as sharp as I'd liked out of the box but it would have been fine if all I had done was sharpen it up and fit the handle. Almost every hawk I've owned has had to have the shaft shaped to fit the head better so no problem there. I use mine all the time and it goes to the woods when I do. All in all it's a great buy. Folks try to buy it off of me all the time. It should last me my lifetime.

Poor fit head, dull, and shaft broke almost instantly. Cool idea, poorly made.

Hobby tool?

I used this hatchet to clear branches on overgrown drag roads and small clearings. There was a decent edge on it already but when we used it the first time it just bounced off the mesquite limbs. If it did manage to bite into the thin bark, it would still deflect and run along the grain. I'm no lumberjack by any means but damn. We ended up using the $10 machete we kept under the seat of the unit. Maybe this is meant for campgrounds or kids? Or as an edged impact weapon?
