Great tool, great value.

I took a chance on the Kangee because I wanted a Tomahawk for camping that worked. After trying a popular brand whose handle always worked loose, I decided to try this one. Not only does the Kangee work, it is handy! I ended up liking it so much that I decided it was worth investing a bit of time and money to customize it further. Well done CRKT.

A tune up was in order

Had a minor problem with the head gouging the handle and not staying tight. The fix was to sand down the handle and file a bevel at the top edge of the eye of the blade so it would not cut but ride up the handle ,also sanded to true up the blade angle and scraped off the varnish and treated the handle with boiled linseed oil then coated it with bees wax The head is tight now and rides over instead of gouges the handle. My first bush craft project with it will be to carve dove tail joints in a two log raft that l will have at my favorite high lake that will be taken apart and stashed so only those in the know can use it to fish that gem of a Washington high Cascade lake

Best Tomahawk for the woods

There is much to be said about the flexibility of this spike tomahawk. I got as a long term solution for extended situations in the wilderness from the Absorka mountains of Montana to the Chihuahuan Desert of West Texas. It is a heavy head for a tomahawk which is what I wanted. The blade chops, and splits and carves well. The spike digs and prys outstandingly! From building a dugout, carving footholds in sandstone, digging up worms and fatwood to prying up Soltol and lechuguilla. Stick the spike in a tree and Debark/ make shavings with blade holding your work with both hands. Need more power - just make a temporary longer pole! Nice steel! Great piece of serious gear! Get the spike, you can hammer tent pegs and trap pegs with the side or a baton...

Trifecta of fit and finish, materials, and price

This is a serious woods tool. Everything about it ,heft balance ,length and type of handle is well thought out. The spike lends itself to many uses and adds much to its versatility of design. The handle is long enough for two hand use but by choking up on it , it has perfect balance used one handed. I dressed down the handle a little in the blade area and rubbed it down with bees wax for preservation and grip.The blade needed nothing, it cut paper right out of the box. Sharpening is made easy embedding the spike in a log, and dressing the bevel with a stone and finishing the edge with a fine file keeps it effortlessly paper cutting sharp. Get the sheath it is a good one. I fashioned a blade guard to fit inside the sheath from the protective plastic shipping material and have no thoughts that the sheath wont hold up. CRKT out-does itself again with this one. A true survival tool worth its weight.

You can build a mansion in the woods, chop your kindling, split some firewood, sharpen it and repeat... Customized the handle with a sinew wrap for grip...

Amazing tool!

On it's fifth resharpening... Flawless simplicity and razor sharp. Splits, hacks, carves, the spike is great for a variety of unseemly tasks... CRKT needs to improve stitching on the sheath as my hawk when sharp and strapped to a pack sliced through the stitching... Sewed it back up with double strand nylugut and no problems...
