Improved on the original
I have always loved the unique design of the original snap lock and when I saw that a reissue was being released I jumped on the pre-order. This knife out of the box is wicked sharp, cuts paper and shaves hair. I would not use this knife with heavy tasks, not saying the lock wouldnt handle it , just that the steel is rather soft. I have not used it enough yet to wear down the edge at all so after 4 days of use its still razor sharp. Comparing to the original I have the snap lock and snap lock 2. The new blade grind looks better and has better edge geometry. Also the new snap lock has bigger screws and a larger brass washer on the cam pivot. All in all im super excited to have it in my collection and the fit and finish is fantastic for the price. its a conversation starter and a neat light use edc.

I have had the smaller version for many years ( can't find it anywhere now) but it's super easy to open one handed, fine edge keeps sharp, love this knife, buying the larger version. CRKT rocks......

This is an great little knife. I wouldn't consider it a hard user, but it is great for the novelty and unique locking system for you collectors out there that are looking for something a little different from your ordinary frame/liner lock. Out of the box, this thing came hair whittling sharp. Has to have had the best edge i have ever seen on a production knife of this price point. Another great thing about this knife is (obviously) the locking system. It is completely rock solid and quite fun to use. It takes a little of getting used to at first, but once you do you can pop it open pretty quick. I really dont have much bad to say about this knife. The only real issue i have with it is the choice of blade steel which is 420j2. I would have liked to see something a little better like 8cr13 or even just your average 440c. That said, if you are like me and want this knife as a collection piece, the softer blade steel should be a non issue.

Beautiful knife
This is a very unique knife. Certainly not practical, as I struggle to use it with only 1 hand. It is more of a collector's knife. It seems well made and does lock well.

Such an intriguing opening mechanism
It looks cool and the opening and locking mechanism makes it a novelty knife. As far as the usability, it’s a different story: even with some practice, the edge of the blade gets so close to your fingers when opening/closing that you need to watch what you’re doing (while most knives can be open blindfolded). Also the pocket clip lets a lot of the knife sticking out of your pocket. A knife collector has to own each possible existing lock type, for that reason, the CRKT Ed Van Hoy snap is a must-have.

I love this stupid knife
Steampunk as heck, looks stupid and amazing at the same time. The side opening is the draw and drawback, blooded the knife unintentionally about the third time I opened it. Clip is reversible but not well. It is the most well built gimmick knife I've ever seen or used. Is this my edc? No, but it fun conversation piece when you're opening packages or breaking down cardboard boxes.
