great design and size

Love most things about this knife, the design especially, the copper, the sturdy (and rather heavy which I like) feel, the blade shape, ease of opening, finish quality (with exceptions). Really like the frame lock and ease of closing. The problem is the opening hole has very sharp edges; I find pinch-opening (two finger) is safer than using the hole (thumb) due to the feeling I could get cut. Also the forefinger cut-out is too close to the bottom edge of the very sharp blade; I already cut my finger just practicing using it in this manner. Maybe some emery cloth or a buffer/grinder tool could smooth away these issues, but out of the box this knife can lead to user-caused injury for this user at least.

Solid

This model (copper) is built like a tank. It sits in the hand like it grew out of your palm. What it isn’t, is flickable. It’s a purposeful tool. A big shout out to KC. The customer service and dedication to getting the product to you is exceptional.

Great Little Tool

I do a lot of work with boxes, getting one of these seemed like a no brain'r. This knife came straight out of the box razor sharp and the blade is a nice thick stock. Fit and finish is great, and with a little practice it becomes an easy spidey flick. I loved how this came with the copper scale so I didn't have to buy a Flytanium scale for it which is an awesome bonus. That being said, I did find a con to this copper scale. I'm not sure if this is typical of other copper scales or copper adornments. I typically wear dark indigo jeans, after one day wearing this clipped in my front pocket (rubbing against the "coin pocket") and the indigo has transferred to the scale and stained it. I don't fault the scale, but it might be something to think about if you wear darker colored jeans. The main issue I have with this knife is the terrible pocket clip. I personally hate this pocket clip, I really only like real deep pocket clips. The way they milled out the "socket" to stick the clip in, the aftermarket hasn't really come up with an attractive clip to replace it with. (My opinion but it's something to think about if you want deep carry).

Great Knife

I love this design. It's pretty squarely geared toward utility use, but that's 95% of my EDC needs. It's the best box opener I've ever owned since it gets the tip down into your cutting work very naturally. The under 2.5 inch blade makes it a perfect carry for the Uber strict blade limits when I need to work in Boston, too. I'm a big dude with size XL hands, but the finger choil still makes this a super comfortable knife to use for me. The action is great too, and after breaking it in I can spydie flick it easily. I always prefer tip up carry, but oddly I prefer this knife set up for tip down. It rides deeper in the pocket that way and it gives my index finger a place to perch when I do want to flick it open. I also find the clip to be less of a hot spot in tip down, for my hands at least. At any rate, the clip is two position, and can be switched if you really want. On the negative side, it is weighty for it's size. I don't mind that though, and it's unobtrusive enough in the pocket for me. Also on the negative are the budget materials. I'm not the biggest fan of 8cr13mov steel. Fingerprints leave it looking grey and smeary, and edge retention is nothing special. Teflon washers are "meh" too. Even the "upgraded" version of this knife only brings D2 steel and a G10 scale to the table. I'd love to buy a version in, say, S35VN with phosphor bronze washers and titanium or micarta scales. They did a sprint run a while ago that accommodated some of that, but imo it should be a regular option. The factory grind was uneven and wonky and not quite shaving sharp. I threw it in my edge pro and got it right though, and the edge was honestly not much worse than what I tend to see in this price range. The bronze scale here looks great, but patinas super easily when exposed to finger oils. I tested it out by polishing it clean and then touching it solidly with one finger and then leaving it alone. By the end of the day, it had stained where I touched it. Just be aware of that. The patina can look cool too, and it's great for making a special project of it if you want to force your own patina. If you'd rather keep it the way it is, I'd polish it off with some Barkeep's Friend and then seal it with a coat of jewelry sealer. For all the negatives, at $30 you really can't beat this knife in terms of value and nothing I mentioned above is a real deal breaker for me.
