Underwhelmed
I was surprised at how much I loved and used the original Pilar so I was excited when the large version was announced. When I got it I was excited. It looks great and it's d2. I went to open it and it was rough. Very hard to flip open. I had to use a lot of wrist. Even with the thumb hole it was hard to open. I found myself just using both hands. The lock up also was subpar. Very little of the frame lock was holding the blade open. I decided to take it apart and see what was up. It was dirty in there so I wipes everything clean and lubed it up. When I put it together I tightened the pivot till it flipped open good but the blade was a little loose still and sitting to one side when closed. I adjusted to where it opens just ok and the blade is almost centered when closed. I carried it a couple of times but instead of feeling the joy of having to use my knife I found myself just, well, blah. At first I thought I was spoiled by my more expensive knives so I started carrying a couple of my other budget knives and it doesn't compare. I still love the blade shape and the knife looks good butI think I'm going to stick to the small version.
