I loved this blade from the get ! It was a gift from my stunning wife. Given to me while I was recovering from being crushed by a 5k log. Being in this position gave me means and inspiration in becoming a knife nerd that I proudly identify with. This knife has so much hidden beauty. It is attractive above its eye catching features. Flavio created something very special. He hid the strength of a frame lock in plain site. Many of my friends contest that it is a liner lock until my insight reveals the truth. The used of Flavio's KVT bearings feel like an assisted system. It's lock up rivals many higher valued blades. The blade with its unique appearance is very versatile and effective. I could go on but will end with this....it is pound for pound the best puncher in and out of its weight class.

I love this knife, My son got it for me as a Christmas gift. The look the feel the way it feels in your hand tells me this is a great knife. I like the way the handle of this knife just becomes one with your grip.this is a big boys pocket knife

Nice way to check out IKBS
A very nice knife with flawless fit and finish - especially for the price. I got it for the IKBS. I wanted to try IKBS out and I favor large folders. IKBS does seem to be all it's cracked up to be as this large, heavy blade flips open very, very smoothly. Lockup is rock solid even though the locking arm is on the skinny side and release is easy. Be sure to pay attention when closing as the IKBS lets the blade fall fast if your'e not getting all your fingers out of the way. And the blade does come sharp out of the box. Overall, a very good value.

I love the feel of this knife. Very sharp, smooth opening and closing. I have the brown scaled one, I might have to get the one with the black scales as well.

CRKT does it again! This knife met and exceeded my expectations. Though it could be considered a little heavy, I find no problem carrying this as my everyday work knife. It is astonishing how smoothly the blade opens and the lock up is 100% solid with no side-to-side or up and down wiggle. I dare say this knife opens faster than some of my assisted opening blades. The handle is ergonomically functional in almost any position held and the jimping provides a great amount of traction. This knife has become one of my absolute favorites. Great knife for a very low price!

I bought this knife just to have something I could pull out of my pocket easily & open quickly, with a decent guard to prevent my hand from sliding if I was fighting with someone. The grip looks a little strange but it actually works well to give you a good grip. Idk how the blade would stand up to repeated use, but it is very sharp and it seems to be a good quality metal. You CAN get this knife for about ten bucks less than on this site, but I believe it's good to support smaller companies so I recommend buying it here. I wish I had bought mine here for that reason but I was in a hurry to get it. It opens up beautifully and locks in place perfectly.

Gorgeous, collector caliber EDC
Definitely one of my favorites. Rock solid construction, very sharp out of the box. Love the over look, fit, finish and construction. Technically not an assisted opener, but the ball-bearing system offers super-fast, smooth deployment rivaling my true-assisted knives. Like others have said, lock-up is rock solid. I've had no issues with one-hand close. It's a large, weighty knife, but a joy to carry.

In my opinion and I know everyone has an opinion, but it seems lately everyone is sharing theirs with me. In my OPINION you cannot claim to be a knife enthusiast if you don't own one of these. This knife is just a fun knife, both useful because of its large size and because it just looks kickass. I think they chose the perfect name for it. It looks ancient but is extremely modern. Out of the box it is way sharp and priced where anyone who says they are a knife collector can easily afford it.TZ.

I carried the fossil for EDC for about a year. Almost everything is great about this knife. Looks awesome, flips open quickly and easily, locks up tight without movement, great price. I didn't have issues with the pocket clip coming loose like some others have had. A minor issue I had was that the blade would get some surface rust if I wasn't careful about drying it off when wet and oiling it once in a while. I didn't have this problem with my spyderco in the same steel and didn't expect it with this knife. The reason that I replaced this knife as my EDC is the blade shape. The blade is an weird combination of drop point, tanto, and recurve that I found to be awkward in a lot of applications. I usually like a larger blade but for me the geometry of the edge just ruined the knife and the size of the blade just compounds the problem. Blade shape also make sharpening a real pain. The steel sharpens easily enough but the odd angles on the edge make it very hard to get the entire blade sharp to the same degree. Too bad to because this knife is really well made for the price and easy on the eyes.

Kind of an EDC?
I’m a veteran and I have an extensive knife collection. I found the size of this knife to be comparable to my Benchmade Crooked River and at a fraction of the cost. I was impressed with the quality as I didn’t have any expectations. I merely purchased it based on the reviews. Very smooth flipper! Feels great in the hands! I didn’t think it would feel better than some of my $200+ knives, but it does! The only problem I noticed is that the handle gets hung up on my jeans when I try to go for it quick. I carry it on the right-hand pocket as I assume most right-handed people do. It literally got stuck and I had to stop and change my grip. I realized then that this might not be the greatest knife for EDC, especially when self-defense is brought into consideration. I would say it’s well worth the money regardless! I almost wish CRKT would offer different handle variations and maybe even color combos. It’s a fantastic blade for the money!

I have owned 2 of the CRKT Fossil Model 5470's The blade holds a good edge and I love the look and feel of the knife. I have had only 1 issue with this knife and that is the belt or pocket clip. It will loose its memory, as in spring, very easy. The way it is designed the clip become very weak and will spring out and then it holds nothing as far as staying in your pocket. I have reached out to CRKT knives and they sent me a replacement part with screws and it did the same thing over time. It easily gets snagged on your seat belt getting in and out of a vehicle or anything for that matter. If you spring it out the metal will not return to its normal position. I guess as long as you are careful and never get snagged on anything, you won't have an issue. But it happens before you know it. Otherwise, its a great knife.
