Tuxedo Companion

I bought this slipjoint model to complement the excellent CRKT Ritual knife purchased last year. The same snappy blue accents,and “ ivory like” grip scales. Mine is perfectly centered,and flips open with aplomb.I use two hands to safely close,until I watch DCA on the video a few more times! This is my new tuxedo&white dinner jacket companion. Buy it!

Pretty elegant CEO style knife

Just got this earlier today and am pleased. It arrived extremely sharp and looks really nice. It would not be out of place in an office environment or formal occasion. One issue I have is with the sharp edges on the corners of the course jimping on the end of the knife. With this design, when clipped to the pants the jimping is farthest down in your pocket and could potentially scratch up your phone or the back of your hand. I delicately applied a diamond file and sandpaper to those edges. The jimping should be finer - that's my only issue.

my 1st Slipjoint in45 yrs.

Got this knife last week and I'm pleased with the appearance. the white scales and blue screws and pocket clip are eye-catching. It is a good 'office-size' knife that won't outrage more sensitive eyes when deployed. It is reasonably shaving sharp a few strokes on a strop perked it up. this is the first front flipper I have ever owned with a few tries it worked fine. D-2 is steel that takes and holds an edge very well in my experience when heat treated properly. The jimping on the front flipper is sharp ( some controversy here) I like it sharp. The 'thing' about slipjoints is they slip. This one slips closed too easily for me. It's a one handed knife but extra caution on closing is advised as is carrying a band-aid.Possibly later production models will have a stouter closing detent thus losing a star. As an office or special occasion carry this knife works fine; light, slim,attractive, reasonably priced.

Broken Tip, Wanted to love it

I wanted to love this knife. I love how it looks and feels minus the jimping which has already been mentioned. The open and close is unbalanced as is also mentioned above. I could've gotten past all that if the tip hadn't broken when I accidentally dropped it on my wood floor. I know it can happen but I wasn't prying anything or misusing it at all. I expected more and also of course tip breaks aren't covered under CRKT's warranty. Despite all that, I still actually like the knife, at least as a light user/ fidget knife. I plan on taking a file to smooth the jimping a little and try and salvage the blade tip on the grinder.

Three out of 5 is actually bad.

I purchased his because it was pretty. It is as pretty in the pics as it is in hand. I have no issues with the front flipper. If I am not moving forward when cutting, the blade starts to close. That never happened with my Tri-Ad locks. Or my RAT-1. Or my Launch 15. Or my Lucha.. Or my cheap Mora. I am very tempted to stick a one star on this, but good looks will help a bit.

Nice build, very hard to open

I think it’s a pretty knife, but thought it would open easier. I have to use two hands, kinda defeats the purpose of a flipper. I hope it gets better with use but the closed detention is too string for the limited leverage you get on the blade. If my example is typical don’t expect it to flip open like the videos out of the box.

Design Failure

The failure of this knife is two-fold. The primary problem is the overall design philosophy. I bought the knife because I wanted a light, clean slipjoint. With a slipjoint, you think nail nick or blade protrusion to deploy the knife. This blade sits below the handle line, so the only way to deploy it is the "front flipper". On most knives, that's fine, but the detent on the knife is terrible. Open it with too much vigor and it bounces back to a three quarter open position. Typically, non-locking slipjoints aren't a huge problem for me, but this knife takes basically no force to close, making it useless for anything other than opening boxes. As with most of the recent exclusives, this knife is manufactured in China and it shows. Bad detent, mediocre handle feel and a horrible "front flipper" action that cannot be deployed like a normal front flipper due to how it is shaped. I shouldn't have purchased any front flipper after using the Pena Lanny's for a while now, but I did not expect this knife to fall this short.
