Really cool blade design with bit**in' swedge/false edge. Very effective Onionesque recurve makes chopping very efficient. The perfectly ergonomic G 10 handle feels more like smooth linen micarta and actually gets grippier when wet just like micarta. The sheath is great and has a Kydex inner sleeve. I was expecting plastic The only problem: it's too loose and doesn't secure the knife as well as I'd like I might have to heat the Kydex to tighten. One other small complaint: the handle strap has metal snaps which is fine but they added useless Velcro on a strap that so long you have to fold i under itself.its an Over-designed strap! Should be simpler. I'm very happy with the 01 tool steel which really holds edge. For $140, it's a no-brainer. get one

Ken Onion - Redemption. CRKT.

Ken Onion design Redemption is a whole lot of knife for the money. I would have preferred a full tang instead of a 3/4 tang, (which i only found out after i purchased the knife a while ago). The 3/4 tang will not affect the durability of the knife from what i can see. Knife is very sturdy, has great belly, and thick spine. Obviously the knife is blade heavy, but not to the point of being cumbersome, (not for me anyway). The swedge can be sharpened in a pinch, but i will keep mine original as it is marked 'First Production'. I was surprised to find plastic press studs instead of metal on the sheath. I would have preferred metal press studs instead of plastic, but at least they will not rust, and if they break, it is easy to replace with metal press studs. The blade came reasonably sharp, but could do with improving as i like my blades razor sharp. I would have preferred a polished blade with the Ken Onion logo etched instead of it printed on a painted black blade. Overall quality is reasonably good but could do with some minor improvements as i have mentioned. Would i recommend this knife to others? hell yeah! If you want a chopper/slasher/outdoor knife, (i was going to say Zombie Slayer but who believes in Zombies anyway?). Thanks Knife Center for having this available for sale before CRKT.

Good knife

Could maybe use a pattern on the grip to make it more slip resistant/ comfortable.

Redemption!

I like CRKT knives. I like what you get for your money, I like the innovations. This Ken Onion colaboration is no exception, it´s amazing how he uses the same lines like on his folders - and they work on this giant as well! Mine says "first production" so there hopefully will be more generations to come, which I´d like to suggest a few improvements for: Everything about the KNIFE is the quality I´m used to with CRKT: Balance, workmanship ect., and I have no doubt that it will deliver when I get to use it. But whatever type of coating they use on the blade is not up to their standards. It looks like it will actually chip off before it even gets to wear off ... not pretty and not desirable on a carbon steel knife (I´d rather have an uncoated knife right away)! Now the SHEATH certainly needs to be beefed up for such a mighty blade, the fabric as well as the liner, which isn´t adequately fitted around the mouth. The PLASTIC SNAP (!) on the retainer strap is a no go: It´s probably "kaputt" before it even gets to wear out - redemption from that, please! Conclusion: A great knife, that would be even better with a few (inexpensive) improvements - it deserves it!
