It Wants To Chop!!
I got the "Chanceinhell" last week. There's already a couple reviews about how well it performs and I concur with those user opinions. Since I collect more than use most blades I get, just go ahead and finish the series off with it's bigger brother. First thing I noticed about this when doing my ritualistic opening of a new baby is the handle comfort. Like I've aforementioned, many hand injuries and early onset arthritis make the handle comfort a must. I've never had a knife with a handle that literally *melts* into my hand. The faux pigskin rubber overlay made an ever-so tacky feeling in the palm. It'll take a day of hard work before hand fatigue is on the list of complaints. The next thing I noticed is the weight. It's not really that much heavier than it's counterpart. The length, and more bolstered design of the tip of the particular blade makes the front end a very noticeable difference in the balance of the weight. It's not necessarily much heavier, but the weight is offset in the balance and makes the handler think it's more than it is. Different blade design, different purpose. This one's more blade heavy for more powerful forward/downward action in chopping or slashing. The sheath with the PVC rubber CRKT logo is a nice touch and a couple of carrying options. Only (not really) complaint is maybe some MOLLE options. It hasn't been put into service yet, but next weekend some serious bushcraft is needed between the electric fence and perimeter fence at my work. There will be the real task at hand. Overall, less than fifty bucks, CRKT brand, nice design, comfy handle and a usable sharpness out of the box. The "Halfachance" is a solid hell of a deal. ***NOTE: it came with the blade wrapped in plastic and a preservative oil on the blade. I'd suggest using some rubbing alcohol to clean it off and re-apply a rust treatment with a solution of your choosing.
