Carson flipper Bronze is awesome

I've got a couple other M16 knives and I love them, and I love this one. The price is great, the construction is awesome - anyone thinking about buying one, just BUY IT. The bronze finish is awesome, the knife is sharp, everything works the way it should! Don't hesitate on this one. Good looking and a work-horse too! Buy it.

Just received the Carson M16-03BS another home run...

Having recently received the Carson M16-03BK, I had to get it's brother the M16-03BS. I find both knives stunning in appearance and very well designed. The blades hold a very fine sharp edge. The slim design make for a quite comfortable EDC. I also have the M40-03 Deadbolt and now will rotate between the three. I often carry the Clever Girl Deadbolt and have the M16 as a backup. I'll more than likely will be adding more Carson knives to my growing CRKT collection.

My first CRKT!

I bought this as my edc folder for rougher use. Not for public carry for me, because of laws in my region, but I can still transport it in my locking pouch. Don't worry, I have a knife wardrobe to choose from. I chose this because of its robust construction, and because of the blade length being on the longer side. I like me a solid full steel construction. The framelock also makes it nice and slim, which I prefer. I love the 12C27 in there, also a main factor why I bought it. Its construction also makes for very easy maintenance. No problem in removing the 3 screws, removing the filth and giving it a fresh drop of good ole mineral oil and putting it back together really quick and easy. Mine still works when it's dirty by the way. I am very satisfied with this knife, I can recommend it. This is also a knife I have no issues with in giving it to a friend, if needed for something. When mine knife arrived it only flipped with a wrist flip, but putting a drop of mineral oil into the pivot area and giving it a few twists it flipped no problem. I guess it was on a shelf for too long haha. Didn't need to tighten the pivot screw at all, but I did it anyways to have it nice and grippy. Still flips great. And no, those are not thumb studs, those are blade stoppers. Mine also locks nice and firm, not too far and not too short. Also good detent. I have the clip as it came, tip down right hand. I tried tip up, but I actually prefer how the clip is above the framelock area when it's tip down, makes it feel much better in my hand. When I pull it out I just grab it by the pivot area with my thumb and index finger. When I pull it out and turn my wrist it just turns into my hand by itself. Didn't expect I would like that so much. I keep it very sharp with my Fällkniven CC4 mobile ceramic stone, nice steel grit for making a smooth edge. Great onehander! I am very satisfied and I love what they did to honor Kit Carson ♥ Great bang for the buck!

Butter Knife Dull

I wanted to like this knife and I did. First use out of the box was cutting open a bag of wood pellets to fill the stove. They are in heavy plastic bags. After all, I have to keep warm. Opened the knife and went to cut a corner off the bag. Epic fail. This thing wouldn't cut butter. Now for the rest. The frame lock is tight and secure. The blade opens smoothly. There is very little play in the blade when open. I mean very little. The serrations on the flipper scrape your hand when you reach into your pocket for something other than the knife. No way your going to open the knife with just the flipper one handed without a little wrist action. The clip is well made and tough. It hangs on your pocket securely. The only problem is the amount of time I had to take to make this thing as sharp as it should have been out of the box.

What I expected

Not sure where a lot of the hate on this knife comes from. I see a lot of people complaining about the flipper action and, while it isn't as nice as flippers with ball-bearings, if you add a bit of oil and adjust the center bolt, you can tune it to open quite nicely without increasing blade play. Pocket clip options are nice. The blade is made from good steel (Sandvik 12c27 is great budget steel). Ergonomics are okay. Blade locks open every time. For the price, I can't complain. This makes a great work knife. The fit and finish is great and it's durable, holding a good edge. Everything I want in a work knife. The only thing I don't really like is when oriented to tip up, right side carry, the pocket clip creates a hotspot on your palm.

BEAUTIFUL piece

The bronze finish and blade shape are off the chain with lots of cool aesthetic details - truly a work of art. The pics show a copper color, but it's a much darker bronze finish, totally in a good way. Fantastic frame lock. The thumb studs are there for decoration, but also in a good way. It was not very sharp out of the box and needed some honing and stropping. I docked it for this, but I'd still highly recommend it.
