Nice Knife
The shipping was fast and got here within a matter of days, when i opened the box and pulled this knife out i was shocked by it's size and quality-it's the blade is rather wide for a push dagger, even if it's only 2.5" long. The finish and quality of the knife(even for a $35 Knife) is excellent, the finish is well applied and rather flashy which is good for those who like a bit of shine to their knife. The steel is AUS-8A which is a decent steel,it's not S30v,but it gets the job done just fine. No complaints about sheath,it's Cold Steel's standard Secure-Ex sheath and it holds the knife securely without issue. You do half to be mindful on how you put the knife in the sheath though, because if you insert the knife in a reverse manner, the locking tabs inside the sheath will not engage and it's very easy to pull out and slash yourself by accident.(I've slashed my fingers a few times, ouch!). When you hear a quiet "click",the knife isn't going anywhere without a bit of force. one slight problem, which is something more of an annoyance rather than an actual problem,if you plan on trying this knife out on a phone book, tree, wood board, etc to see what it can do or to train with it...you may notice the shaft/blade wobbling horizontally after you doing so.Don't be alarmed, the knife won't break. What can happen is that the grip can become a little loose where it is cut out for the shaft to protrude from the grip,if this bothers you,you could use some superglue to fix the grip, but it's not really necessary. The wobble is a slight annoyance and shouldn't affect the performance of the knife. All in all,the Safe Keeper III is a great knife,i highly recommend this knife.Small, light, handy, takes up minimal space on your person, and it's one of only push daggers that has a nice blend of utility and defensive use. If(heaven forbid) you get into a self defense situation that requires a weapon.this knife can be a lifesaver-a Push Dagger is extremely effective in stopping an attacker due to the amount of damage it can inflict, and because of how difficult it is to disarm one of these, even to the most competent attackers. And best of all-this knife is legal to carry in most states too due to the single edge and 2.5" blade, still, make sure to check your local laws before doing so,i am not(nor claim to be) a lawyer or a legal expert. Excellent product, will do business with Cold Steel and Knifecenter again.
