Great cost/ performance ratio for a fixed blade

In my experience, this has been an excellent knife. It's thin stock and keen edge make cutting through varying types of media nearly effortless. I am thoroughly impressed with the astounding level of sharpness that 4116 stainless takes, even with simple sharpening tools. The accompanying sheath is simple and effective. One thing that I would want to see changed is the handle material and design. I am not particularly fond of the rubberized over-molding that the Finn Hawk comes with, nor do I find the handle shape to be well suited to a user with large/r sized hands. If in the future this knife is re-released with a hard plastic (g-10 would be ideal) handle of more accommodating proportions: more circular in cross-section, no pinky hook, etc., I would happily buy one for each member of my family.

Mixed feelings.

Having already several Mora Companions in both carbon and stainless steels,plus owning 4 Companion HD's,i was simply looking for something different but just as effective,and that's basically what i got when i bought the Finn Hawk.I was somewhat disappointed in the fact that besides the handle design nothing really seperates this knife from the typical Mora Companion.Both knives are similiar and basically have the same sheath.I personally prefer Mora's Sandvik 12c27 over the 4116 used by CS,as i feel it's a slightly superior steel and in comparing the 4116 to the carbon Mora's,there simply is no comparison as the carbon steel Mora's blow the 4116 out the water.Make no mistake,the Finn Hawk is a pretty decent knife,but it's not any better than a Mora Companion that costs almost $10 less.Unless you are just wanting something besides a Mora,there's really no need to spend $8-10 more for this knife to be honest with you,nothing seperates it from a Mora besides the name..Like others here stated,the handle is the Finn Hawk's biggest issue.

Cold Steel Finn Hawk

I ordered this after seeing a question about it on an outdoor forum. The knife arrived shaving sharp out of the package, and I promptly put it through some tests. I batoned seasoned red oak, cross batoned the same piece, cut some fine shavings and it still push cut phone book paper. The only thing that I can say negative about the knife is the size/diameter of the handle. I like a large handle! However, I experienced on hot spots with it during use. For the money, it is a good knife, comparable to Mora.
