Pros: Blade Material, Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Handle Material, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type, Overall Quality
Cons: Pocket Clip

A big handful of a knife

I purchased this for camping duty and simply because I wanted it for my collection and the price was right. Potential buyers should note the length carefully - this is most of 14" long when open, definitely not an EDC for most people! It is weighty at 9.2 oz/262 g. As a big knife that folds down to a pocketable size, however, it's pretty cool. The safety for the liner lock is a great feature. Once the knife is open, the safety slides forward to jam under the liner lock to prevent it from unlocking the blade. The safety does not function to keep the blade closed, and this would have been of even greater utility. The handles have a good texture and feel. The bamboo-like segmenting is attractive, comfortable, and functional. The pocket clip is molded from the same material as the bolsters. It seems plenty sturdy. It does not appear to be reversible in any way, so you are stuck with tip-up, right hand carry - not a problem for me, but if that's an issue for you, take note. The pocket clip is pretty wide and so might be somewhat more conspicuous than a thinner metal clip. The clip goes onto the lip of my pocket easily, but it pulls off perhaps a bit too easily, too. The plastic is a bit flexy, and the notch inside the clip is a bit rounded. It's not terrible, but not as secure as other metal clips especially given the size and mass of this folder. The thumb button is buried deep enough in the bolster that I am unable to use it to open the knife with one hand. However the flipper stud on the back works well, and the knife is surprisingly easy to open that way given its 6" blade length. It snaps open with authority. Out of the box the knife is as sharp as any I've purchased. the knife feels very sturdy open or closed. I consider this a great addition to my collection and look forward to using it.

Pros: Weight, Ease of Opening
Cons: Lock Type

Not the quality of lock I've come to expect from ColdSteel!

There is a lot of things I like about this knife as a self defense knife or if you wish to carry it for EDC! The handle feels very comfortable and ergonomic in various positions, long blade, definitely decent steel at this price and it sharpens easily. It's been a great fidget tool, very snappy but here comes the problem and the reason it only got three stars. The liner lock gets loose very quickly and there is play up and down on the blade (not side to side), as in you can see movement in the liner lock against the back of the blade, so if you don't engage the actual slide lock I can see the blade snapping back onto your fingers and this is not a blade you want shifting back on you. Definitely not the quality of locking mechanism I've come to expect from Cold Steel! I'm gonna buy another one and we'll see how that one holds up!
