An awesome NO Nonsense knife!

I have had this knife for a couple of years now and I will say with certainty beyond any doubt that this is the knife you WILL WANT when things go south(war-heaven forbid, camping requirements and so forth). The 5.5-inch blade opens quickly with extrteme authority with a thwack sound once deployed with the thumb stud which parallels to the racking sound of a shotgun and locks up like a freaki'n bank vault due to the trusty Triad lock(which is one of the best features of the knife and gives me a sense of absolute trust as there is no movement of the blade once locked up-it locks up rock solid),The texture of the G10 is so grippy, ergonomic that there is no chance your hand will move forward or slip off the grip. The blade is a no-nonsense American Tanto which is thick and has a reinforced point on the tanto tip and has awesome Carpenter's CTS XHP steel which I have heard slightly surpasses S35VN steel.Be careful when you close this bad boy as it closes quickly and may be a good idea to close it horizontally keeping your fingers out the way as it has a guillotine effect!.My only complaint is that the grippy G10 needs to be smoother under the pocket clip for easier deployment of out your pants, jeans etc and I would like a deep carry clip akin to those that SOG make.Besides this,The Recon 1 Tanto is just a brilliant knife-handle with much care.

Discontined now, but AWESOME knife.

This is one BAD A$$ knife. Holy Moly! The feel is supposed to be large, and heavy. The blade is super sharp, and bit me right out of the box. One look at this baby, and an opponent will think twice before approaching you. The fit, finish, overall quality is beautiful. Comparatively, I believe it is head and shoulders above the competition in its price range. It is such a solid piece of gear, and the Tri-Ad Lock is second to none. I am so sorry to learn it will be discontinued. I almost rated her a "4" because of the pocket clip, but the knife is just way too cool to drop it a point. I have advised to Cold Steel on countless occasions concerning their pocket destroying "wedge-tight" clips. They always tell me it's so it won't fall out. Well, I can't get it in my pocket. I've never had that issue wit SPYDERCO. I slip two nickels under the clip for 2 weeks, and that seems to do the trick. It opens fine for an XL folder. I use a lot of wrist action, and she SNAPS right into that Tri-Ad Lock. It makes a great EDC, although heavy, my hands are very strong, "not big, but strong." I love a super strong folder with G10 scales. Cold Steel gave us a wonderful defense, and field knife. She is a workhorse for sure.

Great knife overall

Very sharp, easy to open. Two draw backs. Pocket clip is very small given the size of the knife, I have yet been able to clip it into my geans pocket. The lock on the spine of the handle is very strong but it is very hard to unlock. Great delivery time from the Knife Center
