I normally use a XL Tanto PE CS VOYAGER as my edc. Been that way since the day the Voyager hit the market ages ago. But in this case I wanted something to use as an all rounder with a bit more point strength than the Vaquero PE XL for heavier food prep applications. This works. Grease it with food safe O ring grease, break it in, wash out, dry thoroughly, oil.pivot with mineral oil. Its a big one
Cold Steel 29AXB XL Voyager Drop Point Folding Knife 5.5" Japanese AUS-10A Stonewashed Plain Blade, Griv-Ex Handles
This is the first cold steel of 2021 that I purchased. The drop point really drew me in. I own the 5.5 tanto fully serrated version, and wanted to get the plain edge 5.5 tanto voyager, but this one jumped the line. The new drop point version is the same specs and quality we all know and love about the cold steel voyagers, and will make a great addition no matter how many other voyagers you already own lol. I love the amount of belly this drop point has, and it easily became an edc for me. I do switch it out with my other big cold steel folders, but for a solid month it was my edc. Switching it out now has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE KNIFE ITSELF, I just love all my big cold steel folders and this one is in the pocket at least one day a week (sometimes two days a week) for reference on how awesome this drop point is I’ll just name a few of the other cold steel folders it gets switched in and out for: Rajah 2, Espada large, Luzon large, Tanto serrated xl, 4 max scout. All in all if you not sure about the drop point GET IT you won’t be disappointed lol.
Cold Steel 29AXB XL Voyager Drop Point Folding Knife 5.5" Japanese AUS-10A Stonewashed Plain Blade, Griv-Ex Handles
First, yes it's REALLY big. Stainless steel liners, excellent smooth action. Blade is literally, shaving sharp. Blade is well centered, with no side to side wobble. Perfect high sabre grind, and its not a hollow grind. Nice tight lock up. Can be deployed with one hand, but considering the reach on a blade long, not the easiest. I usually get it started and then flick the wrist. Triad lock is always a little stiff at first, but it will break in. No where near as stiff as my Recon 1 was. Everyone should own at least one of these. Especially at this price point.
