Long time owner

Don’t expect a high end knife for only $30, but the price per what you get out of this knife is a bargain for the price.

I love this little knife!

This is one great lightweight fixed blade, good for both hunting functions such as caping and precise cuts in small.areas and meat prep. IKR who woulda thought? If you're worried about corrosion, wipe your steels dry after use, then wash and dry. Use a food grade prep like Wicked Wax. For long term, I use EEZOX sparingly.and ALWAYS wash the knife before, during and after use and thoroughly dry them. If exposed to salt, rinse and wipe dry as you go, and wash ASAP

Quite nice...

I am very pleased with this little knife. It's very affordable. It takes a fine edge and holds it well. It has a useful sharp spine. It's very nimble and is surprisingly comfortable in my fairly large hand. The sheath isn't bad, but there are kydex sheaths available from various makers. I have also used the CPM-3V version. To be honest, that steel doesn't make much sense for a three inch blade. I don't think a knife this size benefits much from the monster truck toughness of 3V. What are you going to baton it through? Now, for the Master Hunter or SRK? It absolutely makes sense. You could just about get two of these for what the 3V version costs. Or start saving up for the Master Hunter or SRK. If you just want an inexpensive way to test 3V for edge retention, or corrosion resistance, then this is a good option. Either way, I think this knife is well worth your consideration. I really enjoy mine.

Nice pocket EDC but needs tighter sheath

Nice EDC fixed blade for pocket carry, I like the rubberized handle, very grippy, good for colder weather. The only things I dont like is that the grip gets thinner toward the butt end, which makes it hard to get a good grip on it at that end, at least with my large hands. The grip is a good thickness near the blade, which does allow me to get a decent grip on the knife. Also the knfe doesn't snap into the sheath, and the retention isn't that good, its only good for pocket carry or vertical. I wouldn't trust it for horizontal. The upside of that is that its easy to draw. The little hand guard that sticks down is rubber, its part of the grip not part of the tang, its pretty stiff but it does flex... I would prefer it was part of the tang so it'd be solid. Overall I like it, the downsides are not a big deal, its a perfect length, size, weight for EDC fixed blade, the handle is about 4" which is big enough to get a full grip but not so big that it's too long.

Throws a Shower of Sparks

My Mini-Hunter is the "older" variety in VG1. I also have a later model, I suppose in AUS-10F. F or lighting the grill, the squared-off the older model's spine throws a shower of sparks from a ferro rod (fire steel). I've not used it in the woods (except for slicing one chicken of the woods mushroom off a dead log), but am anxious to.The newer model is so far unused, but I'm equally anxious to use it in the woods. They both arrived VERY sharp.

Falsely advertized

Knife was sorted by Country of Origin being Japan. Specifications state made in Japan. Knife is actually made in Taiwan. Disappointing. Wanted alternate carry method, so bought Ulticlip and 30 piece screw kit. Sheath holes too small for screws, so have to carry vertically on belt with cheap nylon belt loop that came with the sheath. Sheath has poor retention. Knife is light and decently sharp. Handle is comfortable. Overall combination of knife and sheath missed the mark for my hopes of an EDC fixed blade.
