The laws in the UK are draconian but this mini Tac can be hidden under my camping clothes. I'll feel safer when i'm camping on my own up on the moors having this as easy back up. Just in case..... ;-) I like the sheath as it holds the knife well. Many thanks Knife Centre.

Love this knife ..reason for shorter grip is to reduce overall length so it doesn't poke you when you bend over ...very secure grip ..sheath is ok acceptable...holds knife securely....Grip edges are a little rough on skin when wearing ..just use fine sandpaper & smooth edges .I love so much when I misplaced it ..I bought another one ! Now found first one & have 2 mini tacs! I own a karadisi mod mini tac also .. 8 AUS is my favorite low cost steel ..tough .holds a decent edge & easy to sharpen ..

Good quality knife. I'm military that sometimes works in civilian clothes. I bought it as a concealed carry/back-up knife and it is great in that respect. It is very thin and light weight. The sheath is nice, lots of attachment points and holds the knife securely while still being easy to draw. The only aspect of the knife that I would advise people to look out for, is that the handle is very small and thin. Most people will only be able to grip it with 3 fingers and their thumb, not a full hand grip. Guys with very large hands might only be able to grip it with 2 1/2 fingers.

well i use this for a backup for my pocket folder and the secure-ex sheath holds tight and doesnt release unless intended. tanto blade style is very useful for cutting also i carry this above my left hip and the draw strike works great!!!!

Contrary to what some may tell you, this knife can be drawn rapidly from the stock sheath in defense/combat situations. You simply alter your technique. Grab the whole sheath and quickly wrap ring and pinky around the butt of the handle and draw. You need not adjust your grip to deploy and effectively make use of this devastating blade. Love the hollow grind and reinforced tip. Cold Steel are extremely high value tools. Buy it.

Typical Cold Steel toughness, sharp edge and value for dollar. The AUS-8 steel is one of my favorite mid grade blade steels. Very good stain resistance, important in a neck knife worn close to the body. Keeps edge better than 440C but sharpens easier. Knife came hair popping sharp out of the box. I deducted a point for the poorly designed sheath. The knife rides way too deeply in the sheath, preventing a proper using grip when drawn. You must extract the knife with a two fingers then shift grip to use it. Won't work in self defense situations. I fixed this by making my own kydex sheath. Overall, a lot more cut for its size than it would appear. Great little knife, crappy sheath.

Great product. Came extremely sharp out of box, but became dull with little use. This was easily fixed with a diamond stone. The sheath however, was good at first, but now will not hold the knife securely anymore. Also, kinda heavy for a neck knife.

The knife came sharp. The manufacturing quality of the Mini Tac Tanto is good. The handle is very ergonomic and provides a safe grip - though the handle is quite short and does not accommodate more than three or three and a half fingers. The edges of the G10 handle, however, are relatively sharp which makes firmly holding the knife uncomfortable. Cold Steel should smoothen these edges. The width of the tanto blade is too broad for a knife of this size. The entire proportions of the blade do not fit, i.e. it looks clumsy and feels clumsy. Moreover, the enormous width results in a unnecessary higher overall weight of the knife. Cold Steel should reduce the blade width and increase the blade thickness from 2,5mm to at least 3mm. The SHEATH, though well manufactured, is a FAULTY DESIGN! Why? The Mini Tac Tanto is designed as a neck knife. When carrying the knife you should be able to securely grip the handle and easily pull the knife out of the sheath. This is impossible. The current sheath constructions envelopes about two thirds of the entire handle. Even persons with small hands can only grip the knife with one or one and a half fingers. This is not enough, in particular since the sheath holds the knife very firmly and it requires a considerable force to pull it out of the sheath. The first time I tried it I feared that the tiny chain would break. The solution for the user is to cut off a part of the plastic sheath such that the first rear finger groove of the handle is fully exposed. You will notice that the original shape of the sheath facilitates this action. Then you can grip the knife more safely with 2 fingers. Nonetheless, this provisional solution is not optimal. It would be much better if the sheath only enveloped the blade portion of the knife, thereby allowing a secure grip of essentially the entire handle when pulling the knife out of the sheath. Cold steel should completely redesign the sheath construction. Summarizing, I am disappointed of the Mini Tac Tanto. I will sell it.
