Fixed Blade Perfection

The SRK Compact is a perfectly executed fixed blade Thinner than the SRK Original for cutting or piercing tasks The handle is non slip in any wet conditions Sheath is secure and minimalistic for easy attachment to any pack or chestplate Overall unbeatable especially for the price Highly recommended

I like it more then I thought I would

I have two and I agree with Christopher, the normal is not the 2 star review. For the price it is an excellent buy. I have a very large collection of knives, folders and fixed, hundreds. Mainly premium knives, but have a soft spot for high value blades as well, and this is no exception. SRK is a favorite of mine have 5, in different steels, but is a bit chunky for weekend, edc, yard and field work, the inexpensive compact is perfect for this for me. Sk5 is serviceable steel and is tough, and glad they went with a flat sabre grind vs a hollow grind and both are secure in the sheath.

Don't pay attention to this two-star review

as the other review says this knife is excellent it's simply an srk that's a little bit smaller and a little bit easier for you to carry and use for smaller tasks period as far as the sheath is concerned it locks up fine if you'd like it to lock up better all it requires for you to do is to use a heat gun or even a torch lighter to briefly heat up the secure act sheets and give it a little pinch this is a friction fit lock it depends on the sheath pressing against the grip of the knife to lock it in place it literally takes three seconds to adjust this to a tighter fit

Good enough for the Navy Seals it's good enough for you

Price vs quality is unsurpassed. Optimum edc ...no matter what liquid hits the grip it does not slip. The SEAL TEAMS have slid this across more throats than I'd care to know This knife is a no Brainer..at this price everyone should have one. It is a comfortable carry and gives a great sense of security when you are find yourself in the wrong place.

Solid mid-size inexpensive option

I like the knife a great deal, it's a quite well made budget middleweight. It's not the heaviest tip or toughest steel out there, and I've seen a video in which the tip broke when used to pry out big pieces of wood from a board, so maybe don't do that? Maybe have it do knife stuff, mostly? For that, it's as tough as you could need while still designed to perform well. For me the full-size SRK would be a bit big for most of the things I'd do with it. Mine's mostly for yard work and camping, breaking down boxes and maintenance around the house. I've kept it dry, no other maintenance, and haven't seen any rust. Not super-sharp out of the box, but no trouble to sharpen. I'm going to chime in on Cold Steel's Secure-Ex sheath as a con, though. It definitely dulls the edge, and the fit is snug so who knows how much sharpening it would take to make it stop? But I found the leather sheath Ka-Bar makes for the 5.25-inch version of the Marine fighting knife is just about perfectly sized for the SRK-C, including the handle snap bit. If you want walk around with it and need it to be as sharp as possible, that's an easy solution.

Pros: Handle Material, Finish
Cons: Sheath/Scabbard

Nice knife, poor sheath.

The sheath is below average. Does not lock the blade up tight. May need some modification if possible. My full size SRK does not have this issue. That knife sheath locks the blade up tight. Supposed to be the same type sheath. You get what you pay for. Knife is fine, sheath is not. Go with the full size, the compact is not worth it for the same price.
