Excellent Thrower

First off, this thrower is massive and over a pound in weight. If you've been using light-weight throwing knives, you will need to adjust to the weight difference as you throw with this monster. The edges and finish are practical, not sharp, and safe to handle in almost every way possible. No spin, blade grips and handle grips are all possible throws when using this knife. Just note that this is a throwing knife, and it is designed for that sole purpose. You are not going to be using this for any cutting what so ever. If you want something with utility, I suggest going with the True Flight Thrower from Cold Steel. Otherwise, this knife is definitely more enjoyable to throw.

Great thrower

i use the sure balance thrower in local tournaments. It is well balanced which gives me consistent sticks. The only slightly negative is dulling the blade for blade throws. It is quality steel so it takes a little work to dull.

Well balanced

This blade rotates in a balanced, controlled and powerful manner. It sticks hard and deep. After hundreds of throws, a little filing and a wet stone and its good for hundreds more throws.

Best throwing knives I've ever had.

I've been throwing knives since the 80s. I started with a Gil Hibbins knife and it was okay. These however are in a whole other level. They are balanced with a strong tip and they have a good weight to. Every hit goes in deep. I use a hardwood target and it is sticking all most 2 inches and I throw from 18 feet away. If you get one of these you won't regret it.

Throwing Knife

Over the years, I have purchasd McEvoy (1), Olsen (8), Master Cutlery Throwing Knives (20), and Cold Steel Knives (6). The Cold Steel Knife is based on the Harry McEvoy design at a better price. Of the four brands I have purchased, I am most pleased with the Cold Steel. The length (14") and weight (16-oz) makes this an easier knife to thrown than the Olsen or the Master Cutlery Knives. Since the design is a copy of a McEvoy, there is not difference between these knives. As a throwing knife, the knife does not have a sharp edge which allows the knife to be safely thrown by either handle or blade. The Master Cutlery Knives had very sharp blades which limited them to being thrown by the handle. The knives do not come with a sheaf. From years of throwing knives, I have no complaints about this knife.

I have been meaning to buy these knives for a year and finally pulled the trigger. I have been throwing for two years with other knives. These knives are wicked. The grip is simple for a clean release. The weight and size make a great knife to throw.

Cold Steel Sure Balance Thrower Throwing Knife

This knife is in the heavyweight class for a throwing knife. When trowing from the handle the point will drive deep into a wood target. A good knife for close target throwing using the no spin technique.

Delivers a good solid "thunk."

A great feeling when the knife leaves your hand & you hear and see a solid stick, You know you have a real throwing knife, not some thin piece of metal. I'm glad I moved up to the top of the line.

Good.

Great knife for the price, my first thrower ever and it has made learning pretty fun. Once you can get them to stick, it feel awesome. Very satisfying thump, from a heavy knife. Durable and a good weight for cheap.

mean throwing weapon

If this knife were thrown in self defense and made contact with the person attacking u it doesn't even have to hit blade first since it weighs over a pound, it would hurt. With practice this is one of the most reliable trowers on the market today

It was good I noticed the tips tended to bend :/

I throw my knives at wood they did an amazing job "besides the tips getting bent". The thing I love most about it is the weight is very even distributed. ALL IN ALL AN AMAZING KNIFE! Just a really bendable tip:(

2 out of 3 aint bad

This particular knife is one piece no additional handle no sheath.Good weight for over 21ft (throwing) under 21 ft would not recommend .The other 2 knives I bought with this one were FAR superior AND GOOD THROWERS from ANY distance and will be buying more of them BUT not this one.

A little heavy but still fun

I like this knife but its almost a little too heavy. The handle is a little wide for my hand. this thing is definitely a monster. It stuck in the board with the but end.
