Very nice blade
It seems like a fine dagger. It could have come sharper, but the grind is even and the construction is SOLID. The thing is built like a brick wall I have pistols that weigh less than this knife. It's also massive- the blade is longer than my entire Kabar EDC. It's a very attractive knife/sheath I mean it looks like a wallpiece but you can tell holding it that it's made to be used. The alligator motif is strange but it looks the way it does in the advertisement and I kind of like it. The finish isn't perfect but for a production piece it's well fitted and of good quality. You have to study it pretty closely to notice any issues and I don't see any that would affect performance in any way. More things like there being a slight inconsistency between the cut on the two sides of the handle where it meets the pommel or being able to tell that the alligator pattern was stamped out. Standard stuff for production I wouldn't expect better for something of this size unless I was buying a custom piece/spending wayyyyy more money. It carries on the belt pretty well for something so long. Personally I've rigged mine to a shoulder holster I have for one pistol and it's working very well there. Sits comfortably and doesn't get in the way. It's well balanced for its heft. I expected it to sit like a cleaver in the hand but was pleasantly surprised to find that it feels more like a short sword. The sheath seems solid. Good leather, heavy stitching, metal fittings. Personally I'd prefer one with a fixed tongue or one where you could fix the tongue where you wanted but it works perfectly well as is. It doesn't fit the knife very tightly but given its weight and length I don't think it's a big issue. I haven't used it for anything too taxing but given its heavy construction and the material used I have no doubt that it's durable enough to use for a camp knife. All in all I'm very happy with the purchase. I've wanted something from Cold steel for awhile and I think this was a good place to start. Between it's value as a tool and the southern american history behind the design it's certainly worth the price to me
