I must say I'm very happy with this sword. This thing is just gorgeous in its simplicity. Rather than some ornate sword of a nobleman or lord this looks like the gift given to a soldier who's going to be headed off to a long weary war. The blade is hefty and sturdy, but comes sharp from the box. It's not lightening quick, but the piercing ability of this weapon is impressive, and the balance is nothing to laugh at. A slight dissappointment that the pommel is essentially screwed into the bottom of the hilt, but if I wanted a $700 sword, i'd have bought it. Instead I got exactly what I wanted. A strong steeled, bold hearted, and rude cuss that would rather be chopping into chainmail rather than being hung on a wall. This is not a toy. This is not a decoration. It is neither playful nor pretty. Instead this is a tool that was designed and built in the simplest, sturdiest, most cost effective way to get its job done without ever failing. I give it 5 stars not for being excalibur, but instead for being what it promised to be. A real sword for a Man-At-Arms.

i use this for chopping up milk cartons and other stuff its really good for that kind of stuff. i would have liked to know that this sword would be so awesome.

Poor quality

Beautiful design. Well balanced. Sharp - not really but not worse than other swords on the market. Disappointed to notice that the end cap wiggles. Tried to tighten the screw holding the end cap but did not help. Then I tried to unscrew the end cap only to notice poorly fitted small pieces of wood mixed with some sort of metal welding/glue thus making it impossible to fix the wiggling. Also the end screw holding the end cap looks weak. I would not use this sword with repeated force and not around people. I own many Cold STeel items, that is knifes, and this swords quality does not compare to their other products. Says manufactured in India and mayby they lack quality control there but still the construction looks weak/cheap. Will it be able to cut plastic bottles? Yes. Would it hold up for a real sword fight? Most certanly not!

Dull/poorly sharpened

Tried to cut paper bottles in my back yard. Sadly this sword does not even cut through paper bottles. The blade feels week. Even though it is well balanced the blad feels thin and definately not sharp. I order swords from all over the World and this sword does not really impress. You can find swords of better quality for a cheaper price. Somehow producers of western swords seem to Think it is ok to sell dull swords (only katanas having to be Sharp on the market). This is a grave missconception as a sword is meant to cut thing. If you want to smash things buy a crow bar. Cold Steel - I love your Products and do not appreciate having to sharpen a newly bought sword bearing your trade mark! I will give it 3 stars hesitantly - really don´t know why.

Wiggly end cap

I own a lot of cold steel products and love them. This is my first Man at Arms product and like the design and colour of the item but was quite surprised to find that the end cap is wiggly. I could not fix it by tightening the screw with a screwdriver either. I have read somewhere else that peopele have had the problem of the end cap even detaching when chopping with the sword and it really does not feel secure with an end cap wiggling when swinging a big and sharp sword. The sword comes with a cold steel logo reading strongest and sharpest swords - manufactured in India. I would suggest that Cold Steel try to look over ther quality control!
