Viking Sword by Cold Steel

The sword is a nicely fabricated piece. It is definitely a sword that is not just meant for decorative purposes - it is fully functional. Its hilt is deviating from the typical 7th/8th century Viking sword. The leather covered wood handle is not tapered toward the pommel, and is also wider in general. The carbon steel double edged blade however is kept quite authentic - tapered with a fuller on each side. I wold have given it a 5 but it had some tiny spots of corrosion along the edges - so it's a 4. It's important to keep the sword clean and greased for it to last and keep its looks a long time.

A fun... And seriously wicked sharp cutter... Born to cut stuff. NOT a particularly period-accurate sword... But it tries... With the long fuller and the the lobed pommel and what not. The grip is too flat. The cross and pommel are just plain castings. Nothing special. The blade cross-section is too thin for the period. But for cutting... Wow. A fun piece in the collection, especially for the price.
