Must-have halberd!
Pattern and size are outstanding. Halberd comes reasonably sharp - certainly adequate. The ash pole is finished very nicely. It looks great and it's actually functional. The only negative, and it's not a big deal, is fitting the blade to the shaft isn't terribly snug out of the box. I had to whittle away a bit at the ash pole to get a good fit and then secure it in place. KnifeCenter packaged the halberd really well - it arrived in pristine condition.

A very fine item at this price
I'm giving the halberd an average of 4 rather than 5 stars for a couple of reasons even though I really like it a lot. The quality of the head is really very nice. I opted to lightly sand and polish the bluing as I prefer the actual steel to show in my collection. In doing so it becomes clear why it's finished as it is: to cover the tool marks you would see otherwise. Not a big deal as I'm able to sand/polish them out just fine. Really just a matter of investing the time and effort. The only real problem with the halberd head is that the socket is only about 1" in diameter: pretty small for what should be used as an actual combat weapon. By comparison, the CS English bill is 1.25" in diameter and easily stout enough for rough use. Combined with the fact that the shafts seems not to be ash but another less sturdy hardwood makes this halberd seem less than ready for full harsh contact. In the end I think its worth the money but if you're looking to really do some hacking look at the English bill. I'm fine with this as it looks great on the wall of my armory and performs well while practicing my technique in the back yard.

Don't waste your money.
This thing is absolute trash. I received this halberd today, and had nothing but problems with it right from the start. First of all, the shaft and the head don't fit together; there's a crossbar in the socket of the head that prevents the shaft from going into it far enough to be even slightly tight. I had to attempt to shave the piece down myself with a sander. Once I had the head somewhat secured, I stabbed a simple 2x4 with it; about 6 inches of the point snapped right off. Cold Steel brags about having "the world's hardest, strongest knives," but this thing broke just a thrift-store knockoff. Don't waste your money. Cold Steel has lost it.
