The modern suburito

I ordered two, to make training sessions a bit variable. They are not excessively heavy, but when holding one of them in one hand, at the same angle I'm holding my katana, the Cold Steel Suburito is definitely heavier. Swinging them as I do my CS bokkens, takes a bit more effort, and my arms grow tired a lot quicker. A hundred suburi with a bokken? Pfft, try a hundred suburi with a suburito! When holding my CS bokken after training, it feels like I'm holding a stick, a stick that just happens to look like a bokken, and feels almost weightless. At the bottom of the handle, you can see Cold Steel (underneath), but that's not the only place Cold Steel is written. It is also written on the blade, in Japanese characters, a nice little detail. Instead of just going with a bland plastic surface on the blade, like on their bokken, they have taken the time to give it a wood grain finish look. While it may not be traditional, having Japanese training swords in plastic, it greatly reduces the amount of maintenance needed.

Hardcore

This is the ultimate heavy weigh weapon. It's exactly what I wanted! The picture doesn't do it justice, it's seriously a lot of sword. You need to be strong to handle it. Carve it into your soul! I've waited for this for a long time. It was worth the wait. Thanks you!

Front heavy - radial tendinitis nightmare

I was interested in this item having a lot of antique blades from europe and katana swords including different traning swords. When holding this Suburito my first feeling was that it is not balanced as a sword or a bat but terribly front heavy inflicting great strain on my radial tendons. Working out with this "thing" will not give you a feeling of a real katana or sword but will destroy your ulnar tendons. If you like to hit on things with full force I would much rather prefer any stick found on the ground or just buy cold steels propylene bat. Too much front heavy for any serious training or practical use. And if planning to use it for self defence I would not recomend it either - again as it is not well balanced but easily catched by an opponent as it ways to much at the front.
