Feels great, looks great

I bought this knife as a gift and was immediately impressed with the handle and classy, straight design. I really like the contrast in shapes from the pommel to blade, and how it's understated overall. It looks like it means business; it's not garish or even shiny. I took it into a shop to be professionally sharpened before giving it, and wow -- it's practically a laser. I do wish it had already been sharpened, though. I'm very pleased with this knife as a gift, and will probably buy more for this purpose.

A stunning beaty from Colt China-division

This knife is a pride in my collection. Prime made, awesome showing its intention: Silent killing. Laser sharp. Better than my very costly Fairbairn-Sykes 2. pattern. (On part of a dead pig, of course folks! Jesus). Hardly useful for everydays matters.

Decent Dagger for the Money

Mine came very sharp. It feels better in the hand than the Fairbairn-Sykes. The V-42 is light and nimble, beautifully balanced and very deadly. The pommel on mine is slightly crooked, but it doesn't affect the knife's performance. This is a knife that you want to fondle every day - it feels *that* good.

My son bought the knife and really likes it. He likes the shape of the blade and size of the handle. He also likes the "skull cracker" on the butt of the handle (cool factor). He will carry it with him in his boot hunting in South Texas on our lease. Only down side is that the knife twists within the stacked leather washer handle.

Glad I got it on sale

I had been wanting a knife in this style for a while and this one went on sale so I jumped at the chance. The tip is sharp and the sides have a decent edge and the knife looks cool but the hilt is lose and the blade has pitting at the bottom near the hilt. All in all it's sharp and looks cool but it could be made better. If you're going to get this wait for a sale

Beautiful Lines of a fine dagger, Not as fine as a Colt should be

The Colt V-42 is everything that a dagger should be, in appearance. The lines of the knife make it the combat knife that inspired the US Army Special forces patch design. The drawback of this knife is the construction. The quality is not what I would expect of a company with the experience of Colt. The cross guard on the hilt came to me loose. The leather on the handle was "crisp" as if too varnished. I feel that Colt should step up their quality control a bit to make this not just a nice looking knife but a great knife. The history of the knife and the history of the company deserve this.
