My 2nd Extra Fine stone that does an extra fine job.
Don't let first appearance fool you. At first glance there will be noticable tiny dents everywhere but when holding the plate to a light source at an angle, the dents cannot be seen. The plate feels as smooth as glass when the edge glides over the surface. The performance of this stone shines even after years of use. I got the second stone as a backup but the first one still sharpens like a champ. Never fails to give me a sharp, toothy edge with just a few strokes.

I would have to say this is the most durable i have seen -- it seems to be a 1/2" of steel - it feels like you got your monies worth - and it works!
