Great price
Great price for a Dan's brand black of this size. Cheapest price I could find. Very flat. It is lapped after cutting and needs some break in to reveal how fine it really is.

Excellent Stone!
Dan's Whitstones are excellent! I have been checking out different surgical black Arkansas stones over the past year. From what I understand Dan's Whitstones are considered as some of the best ones out there. It is a natural stone and every stone will be a little bit different than any other one out there. I must admit that I was reluctant to purchase one site-unseen. However, the price listed on the Knife Center website was good enough for me to take a chance. I am very happy to say the the stone arrived in very good condition. The folks at Dan's did a very good job packaging the stone into the nice wooden box, and the folks at Knife Center did a very good job of packaging that. The stone was as good a quality looking stone as I have seen anyplace else. It is a joy to use and I have no complaints.

I have bought a few different black arks from different brands in the passed. Out of the last 3, two of them were pinnacle, and they were both HORRIBLE, the third was actually a black pocket stone I bought from Dan's. I bought it direct from their web site, just to give them a try. The POCKET STONE I got from dan's is most amazing, its partially translucent and is just fantastic, so I decided I wanted a full sized stone. I was reluctant to buy from knifecenter.com, but Dan's replied to my email saying that Knifecenter is indeed an authorized dealer, and that Dan's does sell to KC. So I went for it... because the price was extremely good. Guess what? Not good! No where near the quality of the pocket stone I got from dans. This stone is not as bad as Pinnacle, but not what I was hoping to get. You get what you pay for!
