tough hatchet

I've had a few estwing hatchets, every one is as good as the last. I've used these to throw (alot) and these things just wont die. the most i did to one was slightly loosen the spacer and endcap on the end of the handle, but that was easily fixed with a few hammer blows. use it till you lose it. you aint breakin it.

Best value hatchet available.

It's difficult to find a value like this. I have had the same one for five years, use it often, and had never had a single problem. Nice sheath, made in USA (Illinois), reliable, durable, attractive...I plan to give a few as Christmas gifts.

50 Years (More?), And Going Strong

Got my Estwing in the late 1960s (came with a leather sheath), and I love it. I've recently had it sharpened, to accompany me, my Sven Saw and my Fallkniven S1X ((Fallkniven says don't use the S1X for splitting), so, on woods jaunts, I might use the Estwing for batoning. I've already used it plenty for splitting lots of kindling (I've heated with wood, and the axe is a champ). It's a wonderful tool.

The bog standard for hatchets

Its nothing special but not notably bad, to put it simply if you make an axe or a hatchet that worse than this you realy shouldn't be making them

Terrible finish

I really like Estwing, but wtf has happened to the quality? The finish is really bad. The neck isnt straight, at all. The handle is so thick its hard to get a good grip. The materials are awsome and with some work it will be fine, but should I have to do that? Get your act together and make them like you used to. Not ok.
