Outstanding product

What can I say it's the only tomahawk you. Will ever need solid forged steel one piece basically unbrackable ! It's estwing need I say more. Tried and true made in good old USA !

Very nice tomahawk

These are very nice. One piece drop forged. Typical rubber shock absorbing grip like on most Estwing products. Mine arrived pretty sharp. I stropped it for a few minutes and now it's downright scary. Actually shredded newspaper. Main cutting edge is a convex grind. The heavy cordura sheath is much nicer than what some online reviews would have you believe. The only thing I would criticize is that when I wiped the sticker adhesive off with alcohol, the powder coating was coming off. I used some quality flat black spray paint and problem solved. Overall, a good purchase.

Reputation Upheld

For 40-plus years, I've relied on Estwing's reputation for axes and hammers, refusing others at "tourist" prices. They now have a fascinating video out on how they forge and shape them. The one-piece, integral construction and sharpness is still there - I bought it as a gift for a classmate - I'm 75 and in a wheelchair, now - who still hunts big game in dangerous country, so I thought he'd appreciate the extra protection it offers if he's away from his rifle. The one feature I immediately disliked was the ax-style SHEATH, which I pointed out to him. Although it seemed sturdy enough, this is a TOMAHAWK - it should come with a plastic LINER, and designed as a TOP-loader, for quick access. Remember the belt-sheath for the original VIETNAM tomahawk - the designer even provided a manual with instructions on how to FIGHT with it! KURT SMITH - AKRON, OHIO

Nice Hawk but...

Don't know what kind of steel though and the casting marks could have been polished out more. However, like the one piece construction; better than the SOG. You won't have to worry about the handle breaking off. Haven't had a chance to try throwing it yet so not sure what the balance is like with the rubber handle. Handle is great for shock absorbance when chopping. Sheath sucks but that is the case for most of these tomahawks. Home Depot is selling it for $39.95 so you might want to check there first.

Good price but warp in the handle

I bought this because it's one of the only U.S. made tomahawks on the site in my price range but I guess I should have spent more. Everything looks great and I like the feel and weight but the handle has a clear warp in it. I haven't used it yet but I can't imagine the warp not having some kind of impact on performance.
