Pros: Ease of Use
Cons: Durability
I spent a lot of time learning how to get and maintain a decent edge on my knives--I like em sharp. Then I inherited a chef's choice. I have owned three and I have given 2 as wedding presents. I now use this model because it is quick and easy and it gives you a serviceable edge without keeping track of stones, keeping them handy, adjusting your posture. maintaining your stroke angle.

Dependable kitchen tool
I picked this knife sharpener up at a going out of business sale at a kitchen supply store about 10 years ago and it's still going strong. I own a set of Henkels, and Cutco chef knives and this tool, with a little practice can get them shaving sharp in a few minutes of work. However, it's not perfect. Because of the design, it's hard to work on small knives like parers, or smaller sized pocket knives. I've used it on scissors, as well as big meat cleavers and it did a good job on longer blades, as well as thick chopping blades. You can't really sharpen the blade all the way to the handle with this design, but that rarely matters in most cutting tasks. There is no way to sharpen a serrated blade like a tomato knife or a bread knife with this sharpener, so keep that in mind.
