This knife is effective
I train in Filipino Martial Arts and have been using a trainer version of this knife for quite some time. All I have to say is, this knife is around my neck every where I go. This design rocks, stealthy deployment, very effective cutting edge. Compact, super light weight, Kydex sheath is effective and shape is perfect for wearing around your neck. In my opinion this is the perfect neck knife design.

Excellent product and Service!
The knife is very usable as a self-defense edged weapon. It never prints no matter what kind of shirt I am wearing. Th chain is sturdy, the sheath is of superb quality, not to mention the knife itself. I am not suprised considering it's an Emerson. That's all what my self-defense knife collection is: a CQC-15, Mini CQC-7, and now, the La Griffe (The Claw in French).

holds nicely in your hand in standard or reverse grip positions. Only con is the chain, switch it out with para-cord for a much quieter carry.

Perfect EDC
I have owned my Emerson la griffe so long that I can't even tell you how many years ago I purchased it. I would say at least more than 12 years. I've carried it almost everyday around my neck and the days that I left it at home I felt naked. I've read through all of the reviews here and I've noticed that a couple people have mentioned that Emerson should put paracord on the sheath instead of the ball chain. I just would like to make one little point. If you get into a situation with somebody you don't want anything around your neck. The ball chain was designed to break away easily. I think Emerson has this knife down perfectly.

Great knife
I like everything about this knife. I'd love to see a slightly bigger version of this as it's quite a compact knife but it's more than fit for the job.

Even better than hoped!
Replaced ball chain with soft leather strap. High end steel achieves and holds an edge that glides right through everything I have used it on. Very secure sheath that allows the knife to be put in hand almost without thinking because grab position is use position. Tricky to sharpen, but not hard once you get the angle right on the chisel grind.

Emerson La Griffe
Excellent quality, as usual with Emerson blades. The blade is surgically sharp. I have owned one for over 10 years now and this one that I recently ordered is the same quality. However, the scabbard has changed. I'm not sure how long ago it changed, but I like the older scabbard with the Zytel (?) material where the blade would lock into a groove. With the new scabbard, it is hard leather and it pinches down on the knife blade during the entire draw.

Great for LE, military, and rock climbing
Great knife for people in LE and MIlitary. This would also be a great knife for people who rock climb or work around rope. The ergos of this knife make a quick and easy way to cut rope in an emergency.

Emerson La Griffe
What a great lightweight sharp little knife. I love the Perrin hole which helps you hold onto it by putting a finger through it. It is a little hard to resheath it though. I am presently looking for a way to attach this knife to a belt as I would prefer it placed there instead. I think I am going to really enjoy this knife and keep it with me often!

The Perfect Back-Up Edge
I work in Law Enforcement (LEO)and as many LEOs do, I have usually carried a pocket-folder. I find the Emerson La Griffe is probably a better option, when it comes to quick deployment. It is versitile and easily concealable. For example, I mounted my Le Griffe and sheath to a Tek-Loc belt rig for duty. Easy to conceal. Easy to get to. It is an extremely versitile weapon and once it is gripped properly, it is difficult to pry out of your hand. I like it so much, I purchased one for my wife for her own personal protection.

Very good knife, but old one was better
Well, I want to start off by saying this Is my second La Griffe. The first one was lost by my ex girl and it took some time before I ordered this one. This knife is a bit different then the original I had. The first thing that jumps out is that the tip is not nearly as sharp. The second is that it has this coating around it that seems like it was baked on. Don't get me wrong, it is great for what it is built for, but I was a little disappointed in the edge and the fact that I had to sharpen it. I picked it a Triceps sharpener and got it to shaving sharp now. The point is still a little dull but it's a lot better then what came out at first. This is my second Emerson La Griffe and my third Emerson. I also own a CQC 16. Again great little knife but the coating and point upset me a little.
